This thread is so sexist and ageist I feel sick... (sorry, some of the posts are, no the thread itself)

Madonna is older now, not a girl anymore, and she should hide away from public view? Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous! Gwen is over 30, so she shouldn't be dancing around???
Yes, those views are age-ist and sexist. Society has double standards when it comes to these matters.

But that aside, both those women make terrible music.

terrible music.

That's what I made my judgement on. How old they are/how they look bothers me very little indeed. Good luck to them, I just don't want to hear their songs.

Absolutely.

I thought about them both when I heard Condie Rice say today that the US does not support or condone torture at home or abroad. Liar...

Oh. That's alright then.

Erm, no. Run that by me again.

She called them fucking morons. I'm suggesting that they have some capacity, since they've made themselves into multimillionaires through their own efforts.

I don't think you have to be very bright or talented to make a fortune.

I quite like some of No Doubt's music, and I kind of respect her for her style and the fact she likes and has worked with reggae artists, wouldnt say no a knee trembler either :)

That Boris Johnson tosser is not stupid though, he just makes out he is a buffoon for effect. Which makes him more of a risk not less - "the cuddly tory". Agree on the other 3 though :D

I like Tragic Kerry Katona. She's totally gormless. But utterly devoid of talent. But good luck to her.

etc

I don't know who any of those people are.

I'm sure they're celebrities who've gotten by on their looks etc.

Madonna and Gwen both trade on their looks, no doubt, but they're in a job that requires talent as well, to succeed, along with drive, self promotion, etc. There are thousands of good looking blonde singers who never amount to anything.

I just always find it a little bit funny to find someone sitting in their office cubicle or one bedroom flat, telling the world how stupid some megastar is.

Wealthy celebrities. I would have chosen a Canadian one, but I couldn't think of any.

Well, the point isn't what they look like (although that Boris, eh? Who wouldn't?), but that their talent is not entirely apparent. And yet they're wealthy. Therefore it doesn't say much, does it?

Another no-talent dude.

Peter André (born Peter James Andrea, in Harrow, London, UK in 1973) is a singer. He was raised in Australia, and is of Cypriot descent. The UK is where he found the most success. At first he was on the Australian soap opera Neighbours before turning to music, the show spawning many other actor/actress turned singers such as Kylie Minogue, Jason Donovan, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance and Delta Goodrem.

In the UK he began his music career in 1996, first having a top 20 single called Only One, reaching number #16, but then gained massive success with the song Mysterious Girl (featuring Bubbler Ranx), reaching #2 in the UK singles chart. He then had a #1 album Natural, and two #1 singles Flava and I Feel You. However, after attempting to transform in to an R&B artist rather than a pop artist, and releasing a few more singles, he didn't have as much success as previously, with his second album, Time, only reaching #28. In 1998 he released his last single (a cover of the song "Kiss the Girl" from Disney's The Little Mermaid) before taking a long break from the charts.

Pilchardman, the odor of sour grapes is becoming unmistakable.

Christ, I've got 2 degrees, but people call me a moron on here on a daily basis! Academic achievement, like the gathering of wealth, is not a reliable indicator of intelligence.

:D If you'll scroll back, you'll see I say good luck to them. Furthermore, you seem to be under the impression I'm saying they have achieved nothing: I'm not.

They may call you a moron, but you're not, are you?

Just like Gwen and Madonna.

Oh, ffs! :D

I have no idea whether either is a moron. I merely pointed out that contrary to your assertion you can be a moron and wealthy and successful all at the same time.

But you haven't done so successfully.

My point is that people who have become very successful without family money etc, usually have some inner resources that most don't possess to the same degree.

Maybe so. In that case I admire Kerry Katona's inner resources, as well as having a soft spot for her as an individual. I still think Atomic Kitten were musically dire.

They have the ability to make money. This is not something I admire in human beings. I admire other things. If money is what motivates you , if the possession of lots of it is meaningful in some way to you, then I suppose Madonna and Gwenny will make pretty little mascots for your cause.

And did I say they have no talent? No. I called them fucking morons. Talented fucking morons with bags of dosh.

"Talented". :D What a fucking word. :D

Of course being blonde and gorgeous myself (shurrup! ) I have no need to feel jealous of blonde gorgeous women.

But well done Johnny for continuing to propogate the rather insulting and damaging idea that women are all motivated by envy for other women's looks and cash. That's right Johnny - completely unable to see beyond surface attributes us birds.

Yeah, same here, it's pretty depressing that the main success indicator these days seems to be money, the more of it you have the more successful you are, apparently.
