Don't really care about the personalities of the artists, it's the music that does it for me and GnR (for the most part) made some fucking cool rock music. AfD was excellent, the illusion albums would have been better as one big album (about a third of the tracks on each are filler/b side imo). Lies wasn't too bad either. :)

The rumours of a reunion (Axl apparently offered the original lot, including Izzy, a ton of money to come back) are interesting to say the least. And anyway, show me how many bands had the guitar excellence of Slash?!

"Appetite for Destruction" is one of the greatest albums ever made. Unfortunately the band then became bloated and sad. The "Use Your Illusion" albums had half a decent album's worth of tracks between them.

Velvet Revolver have, for me, stepped into Guns' shoes admirably.

Velvet revolver were fantastic live...I have been seeing loud bands for 20 years and they were by far the loudest...they appeared to have put a stadium rig in the hammermith apollo....bass so loud it practically punched you in the chest. patchy lp....rumours that slash has left them now and duff back in rhab (if you believe metal sludge...http://www.metalsludge.tv/home/index.php) so maybe thats it.

Keep it real you dogs

When I see a thread like this, you know that everyone listened to and enjoyed their music at the time. Some might still indulge now and then, but to come on here and start slating them as if it's cool not to like anything or anyone. Maybe said people are frustrated, maybe spliff time for some and punch for others.

nope, totally wrong there. What a ridiculous assumption to make.

Nope, wrong again. Somebody starts a thread inviting opinions, some give good ones, some give bad. To claim that those giving negative opinions are just trying to look cool is THE singly most pathetic argument that ever gets trotted out on these boards. Disliking GnR doesn't make you any cooler than people who like them. It's an opinion about a band - a band i happen to detest.

What a pathetic statement.

How do you know that? Are you psychic or just a lying gimp?

Some of us never gave them listening room in the first place. There was better music about to listen to than GnR.
What's wrong with slating music you don't like, anyway? As long as you give a substantive reason for not liking it (rather than saying "hey, it wasn't kewl", then all criticism is good criticism.

Go have a wank. It's you that's obviously frustrated if you're fantasising about punching people.

Daft twat.

Ignore muser, my first encounter with the poster involved muser passionately defending Guy Ritchie as a top director and film maker.

Needless to say, LOL.

Are we talking about the same Guy Ritchie; talentless, mockney accent posho who likes older women, and has the film-directing ability of a traffic cone?

Yeah, now.
It's almost quite sad to see what a farce Axl Rose has become.
But back then ('87/'88), you've got to admit, they were very fucking cool.
Yeah he hasn't shot anybody's pet pig in the face for years.

How else would you describe an upper-class ex-public schoolboy who adopts a pseudo-prole (east London-style) accent and is married to a woman almost a decade his senior (without spending what seems like half a lifetime doing so)?

Is his choice of partner any concern of yours?

It's as much my concern as it is anybody's, given that the Ritchies are happy to prostitute themselves to the media and bare their souls (for a small fee of course).

Next time you try a pompous comeback heres some advice:

try harder.

I'am psychic, I know that whenever anyone puts up a post about something that seen by many to be good, it will get slated on this board.
Read anyone of the post on this thread and you will find that the people who don't like G'n'R's are also people who don't like axle rose. I'm not defending axle as I know he is a terrible person at times, but to say the music was dreadful or like one person to say they like 'it's so easy' and not like any of their other work is to take hyprocisy and worship it.

Be more selective with the media you choose to read. Heat is so yesterday;)

1) "This board" is not a unitary entity, it's a loose concatenation of individuals. Therefore for "this board" to slate something or somebody is an impossibility.
2) You're not psychic, you're a dripping billy goat's penis.
3) You obviously "know" diddlysquat or you wouldn't have been daft enough to make three howlers in your first sentence.

Steaming piles of horsecrap.
It's perfectly conceivable for someone to like a single track by an artist or group but to think the rest of their output is a pile of pony. I've got a couple of hundred 7"s by artists where I've only liked a single track, and shitlaods of mp3s for the same reason, the point being they're the only thing I own by that artist because they're the only track I like.
Most people who say they like the entire discography tend to be either serious fanboys/fangirls (in which case "like" should really read "obsessively worship") or they're the sort of uncritical soul who "like" all music, usually as aural candyfloss.

Me, I didn't/don't like GnR because they did nothing for me. They weren't as heavy as Motorhead, their guitarists, while very accomplished, played the generic "overdriven Les Paul" sound, and their singer whined like a baboon, add to that the usual juvenile sex, violence and drugs HM lyrics and to me they just didn't say or do anything new.

that's about the most meaningless crap i've read in quite some time. Are you actually an idiot?

What I'm trying to get at here is a type of person I know. Chrisc and myself know each other, he's got a friend call mat. Mat doesn't like Lord of the rings, he is on record as saying that it is terrible, doesn't stay true to the books, the set could have been better and there are other numerous criticism he has of the films.
But mat owns all of the lord of the rings film. Not just each individual film, but the special edition boxset.
Dub and co you remind me of mat. The way you go on, as if you're fooling people. Round my way it don't wash, not like that anyway.
