Enforced Holiday
at the dark end of the street, wearing a dusty ill-fitting suit and a mis-shapen hat, with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a Peacemaker in the other, is Deadwood. The finest TV series of all time - Shakesperean of script, epic of scope, magnificent of realisation. The best acting, writing, production values and the like of any series ever.

Cancelled.

At the shiny end of the street where all the stupid people gather, wearing a jester's outfit, something made of leather ending in -kin, some ludicruously outmoded pointy stick and always in danger of unleashing 'old magic' if somebody drinks a little too much elderling juice, we have Song of Ice & Fire, the new HBO blockbuster made using money stolen from the cold, dead hand of Deadwood.

"The first storyline, set in the Seven Kingdoms themselves, chronicles a many-sided struggle for the Iron Throne that develops after King Robert's death." etc etc etc.

Who would you back?

I like Deadwood but times change and I like the sound of 'A Song of Ice and Fire':

From wiki:
"The books are known for complex characters, sudden and often violent plot twists, and intricate political intrigue."

Mind you, I'd much rather they kept Sopranos going.

Ok, not really.

I am yet to see a good Fantasy TV show.
Westerns are easier. I should watch that deadwood thingy.

Song of Ice and Fire is a good series of books, R.R. Martin writes an interesting meieval style fantasy but I reserve judgement till i've seen the adaptation

An in no way biased manner of posing the question there, commendable ;)

Fire and Ice could be utter tripe, but if HBO do what they do very well then it could be utterly superb. I've heard rumours that it's going to be 9 series worth

Anyone who's read them will agree that they're fantastic books, but as Crispy says, there's never been a decent fantasy series.

Apparently Sawyer from Lost will be playing Jaime Lannister, which seems a waste as he's barely in it.

That cage fighting twat from the OC will play Rob Stark.

Also rumours of Ray Winstone and Clive Owen being in the first series.

Clive Owen can fuck off as can the twat from the OC but the other choices are solid in my opinion.
