there is actually something alive behind our fridge. you can periodically hear it scuttling, and the dog's been known to stare suspciously at it for hours.....
I think that's the idea of "self-cleaning ovens" (damn, but to a bloke, that phrase sounds gorgeous...self-cleaning shirts, anyone?). They get hot and burn off all the nasty greasy gunkiness.
As a vegetarian, I don't think I've ever needed to clean an oven - you just don't get the buildup of greasy clag that cooking meat seems to achieve. I generally foil the tray thing at the bottom where the drips end up, and maybe change it every year or so, and that's about it...

my kitchen, bathroom and hall floor have been filthy for weeks. I was thinking about doing them but I am off on holiday on Boxing Day, then when I return I hope to have my hall walls replastered so thought I may as well leave till then. My fella came round when I was out last night and scrubbed them for me ! Also washed up and hoovered. Don't get me started on the fridge/cooker stuff but just to say thats after the hol too x
We've got a shower attachment up on the wall at the bath and yesterday I cleaned the tiles (including orange grouting). It gleamed! Thing is, today I showered and they're all covered in water marks again, but still not grey, which kinda puts me off bothering to clean the actual bath and taps. What's the point? I think I will de-limescale the showerhead. Anyone ever do that?
