Grosse Pointe Blank NOW

Amazingly, first time I've seen this film.

It's good, made me laugh, altho I get the feeling if I'd seen it when it was released I'd have found it funnier...

It's a ten for me. Acting? Ten. Script? Ten. Cinematography? Maybe 8 - it was pretty ordinary, but didn't need to be more than that. Score? 10. Direction? 9.

Hasn't it got Minnie Driver in it? Therefore how can the acting be a 10? Doesn't compute :p

The script is witty and well paced. But it's essentially a rom com with some violence to keep the boys happy.

"I'll just watch the first half hour", I thought. I'd forgotten how good that film is. It's got Dan Ackroyd in it FFS, and he was both a Ghostbuster AND a Blues Brother. Can you go wrong?

Seen the first 45 mins twice and nodded off (did so last night again) but had the foresight to tape it this time, so will finally be able to see it.

She's fine in this, though - she does actually have chemistry with John Cusack.

I quite like the violence too - it's comical in itself. I love when he shoots the front door for no obvious reason, and then when Minnie and her Dad open the door there's a dead assassin lying there. Also, killing someone with a pen should not be quite so amusing. :D

I was never too keen on GPB because it's very heavily 'derived' from the French film Cible Emouvante (Wild Target). Still, if I hadn't seen that first I probably would have enjoyed it.
