Crackers innithe got the poppy seeds from a roll he ate at heathrow airport as well, if what i read somewhere else was correct.

Soz, very bad taste joke there. Don't really understand why the Times also mention some other R1 dude Greening dying from drugs, the situation is hardly comparable.

If I ever go to dubai, I'm buying everything I need at the airport, including a fresh change of clothes.

Terrible news innit. Not so sure on the pardon either:
A British tourist, Keith Brown, spent four years in jail for the possession of 0.002 grams of cannabis. Bert Tatham, a Canadian UN official who advised the Afghan government was also jailed for carrying 0.5 grams of hashish and two poppy seeds into the country. The rulers of Dubai later issued Mr Tatham a rare pardon, deported to Canada.
Tatham was only released as part of a more general amnesty as part of Eid, from what I've read, and served ~8 months.
we will be in mayBetter still - don't go there, don't even change planes there.

Oh no! Poor Groove.Don't worry there's far worse places to get nicked than Dubai.
I'd say pretty much most other places in the Middle East actually.
wise words, wise words.IMO (FWIW) any petitions geared towards his early release should be extremely sensitively penned. They should acknowledge that he has broken the law and that he did wrong but should also make a plea for his release on compassionate grounds and on the basis of him being a much loved celebrity / pioneer of D&B. All and any petitions should be respectful and not seek to challenge or undermine the laws and traditions of the country
Grooverider's myspace page. That page should have changed into something much more conservative as soon as he was arrested.

I don't think it is an exception is it? Yes, the dude who trod on a blim shouldn't be in jail, but if you are banged up, then surely it makes sense to use whatever tools are in your armoury, as it were, to try to extricate yourself from the situation. Why should his fame be an exception? I feel sorrier for the guy who trod on a billionth of a spliff tbh. He's someone that deserves help.
