Yes - they buy it direct from the manufacturers. It's not a use by date (where it might be dangerous to eat after the date) but a best before date which is just a guess from the manufacturers of when something is best. Stuff is only a couple of months at most out of date, not years

'Scrummie' steamed sponge puddings are currently BOGOF in Sainsburys.

Two varieties I bought today- sticky toffee and pecans, and chocolate sauce.

They are a generous size- £2.00 for 2 isnt bad at all.

I did a weekly shop in Sainsburys today because it was the last day we had the loan of a car. Because of the snow, they hadn't had many customers, there was loads marked down, esp. veg and organic meat. I felt very smug - saved about £20.

our Sainsburys was a nightmare today - loads of customers but very few staff, I was ages at the checkout, there were about 15 people in front of me.
