Grocery Bargains

Yes - they buy it direct from the manufacturers. It's not a use by date (where it might be dangerous to eat after the date) but a best before date which is just a guess from the manufacturers of when something is best. Stuff is only a couple of months at most out of date, not years :D

(I heard a programme on the radio yesterday)

I'm always happy to eat stuff that is past it's best before date, try it and see ;) :o like you said the manufacturers generally guess :D - just wasn't sure if there was some law that you couldn't sell out of date stuff? Guess not.

I ate LOADS of them when I was staying with my friend the other week.

LOADS.

Yeh, we're eating LOADS of them too. And even though they have a bit of custard on the top, it's not enough, so I pour half a can of cheapo 20p custard on the top as well

fuck.ing.yum.

mmmmm!

I am going to have one of these right now.

EATING doesn't get more SPONGEY than this.

it's like an on-line version of that out of date food shop on Deptford High Street:D
You have just helped me slip into a warm bath of childhood nostalgia :D

Hahahaha :D

Magnificent slabs of cheddar, broken biscuits (they had Oreo cookies decades before I ever saw them anywhere else), 6 cans of ginger beers for a pound...

'Scrummie' steamed sponge puddings are currently BOGOF in Sainsburys.

Two varieties I bought today- sticky toffee and pecans, and chocolate sauce.

They are a generous size- £2.00 for 2 isnt bad at all.

Oh they look fab - 2.00 for 2 is great - I was in sainsbury earlier as well and deliberately didn't look at the cake section :(

I did a weekly shop in Sainsburys today because it was the last day we had the loan of a car. Because of the snow, they hadn't had many customers, there was loads marked down, esp. veg and organic meat. I felt very smug - saved about £20.

our Sainsburys was a nightmare today - loads of customers but very few staff, I was ages at the checkout, there were about 15 people in front of me.
