Grindhouse - at the Ritzy this week

i don't think it's seriously misogynist but I also think it's a mistake to say that because the women come out on top, that means it's NOT misogynist. I do think Tarantino in particular has dodgy female characters - they're wish fulfilment / fetish objects for him IMO, so although they may well 'kick ass', they're still very male stereotypes of how women should be.
Well if the point is to wallow in the degradation of women before the final vengeance scene that justifies it, you may be right. I'm thinking of eg I Spit on Your Grave, though I haven't actually seen it. But I don't think that's the case in Grindhouse.

Interesting point about QT. His Zoë Bell character differed from Zoë Bell the actress in that she was into cars and cool films. Otherwise she was playing herself.

I was at the cinema last night to see The Orphanage (it was ok) but I noticed that some of the Vue cinemas are showing Death Proof and Planet Terror in their orginal Grindhouse double feature this weekend as late night showings.

After speaking to one of the guys who work there it's apparantly been running for a few weekends but Vue have not promoted it!!!

I'm going!!

Saw it on Sat night, very cool, I thought the characters in Death proof were a little ropey to begin with but you soon realise why.

And the Edgar Wright trailer for "Don't" is simply hilarious! :)
