Greggs

I had one of their low-fat wraps today :o and looked at the cheesy bacon puffs like a child with its nose pressed against a sweet shop window. I fancied having about three of them.

With a curry last night, Thai for lunch tomorrow & noodle bar in the evening, I thoght I'd better not. :D

I <3 Greggs cheese and onion pasties when I've had a heavy night before, but everything else they make sucks.

I will sometimes go in for a vegetable pasty if I pass the Dalston one. I say "A vegetable pasty, please."

And then - invariably - there comes the Greggs Jedi Mind Trick! "Two?" suggests the staff member, as if perhaps I have asked for two and they are simply confirming the order. "Just *one*, please," I say.

Ha!

Earlier I bought a cheese and onion quiche from Greggs and it was putrid. It tasted like it had been made with powdered eggs and onion flavouring as I never came across a single bit of onion. I was really looking forward to that for my lunch too :(

Greggs are shit, choose your food outlets with more discerning wisdom

I miss Greggs. I have recently moved jobs, to, it appears, a Greggs-free zone.

Keep paying £4 - 5 for lunch instead of £2....

Greggs, the culinary version of Russian roulette. One in six chance of getting the shits after each purchase.

the odds are considerably worse in the east ham branch. so much so that i have got rid of my christmas flab on their fantastic sausage roll detox diet.

I don't think I've ever bought anything from Greggs in my life, although they always have huge queues so they're obviously popular.

I used to go to the Cornish Pasty shop, but the last few pasties I've had have had horrible crap bits of chewy meat in, which makes me feel sick.

The best pie I ever had was at the McAlpine Stadium in Huddersfield. So nice I queued up again for another

They do something involving baked beans which makes a mess of one's clothing if eaten inattentively. Are they in partnership with Persil?

I've had a Gregs less than a minute from my front door for five months or so now and I spend too much money there. The french bread pizzas are rapidly turning into my hangover breakfast of choice. Ditto cheese & onion and veggie pasties when there's no pizza bread. It's not exactly great food but then what the fuck do you expect when paying a couple of quid for something from a chain bakers?

Gregg's tuna salad sandwich came top of the pile (when compared to supermarket, Pret a Manger and other sandwich chains in a BBC survey) with regard low fat content and low salt content. That's all I used to buy at Greggs.

Case for the defence rests.....

When i used to work near a Greggs, i got addicted to those sticky buns - the ones with currents in and loads of icing on the top. Oh yum :)
