There Is Always Time For Tea*

*ancient chinese proverb

you have to factor in preparation time - boiling kettle, 3-4 mins, letting the tea brew, 3-4 minutes, drinking the tea, 10-15 mins, so with 30 cups a day, that's an estimate of 23 minutes per cup, x 30 cups, 690 minutes, or 11 hours and 30 minutes to prepare and drink the tea, that's a big chunk of time :D

I like green tea done properly. The bags are OKish, but leaves really are so much better. The most important thing is not to make the tea too strong - one bag does for at least two cups, really. Most people who dislike green tea have probably brewed it exactly like they would normal PG Tips, but it doesn't need that long.

My daughter loves it too, and has it every morning in the winter. She says that it kinda tastes like dishwater but for some reasons she loves it anyway. :D

Redbush is minging, and Earl Grey tastes like someone accidentally tipped a bit of their grandmother's perfume in there.

And you'd be going to the toilet more often, too, taking up more time.

Glad to see I'm not the only one who gets ill with green tea, even the smell of it makes my stomach heave.
Don't drink 'normal' tea or coffee either.

Only really drink hot drinks during the day in the winter.

If you use a teapot you can cut a lot of that time.

Good point, I was basing it on my tea drinking habits - a pot contains 4 mugs maybe?

still have to factor in toilet visits though, it may cut down on preparation time though, one could also reheat tea in microwave, but that would be majorly wrong

I never liked it at first. I didn't even know there were other kinds of tea until a girl from singapore that I went out with introduced me to it.

I didn't like it at first, but it grew on me.

But you didnt factor into the equation the hot water boiler in the office (instant hot water:)), or the quick brew mash with the spoon technique..

even so, it is maybe too much time dedicated to tea!!:D:)

I wont discuss my toilet issues

I just started drinking green tea about 2 months ago, and feel loads better for it! I'm still a newbie tho, so still on the supermarket stuff. Twinnings is awful, so bitter and tastes like carpet...yeuch! Clipper's green tea with ginseng smells gorgeous, and is pretty nom. I can't drink full cups of it tho, unless i load 'em up with honey and i'm cutting sugar out so that's a no-no. I do 'em like an expresso, get all the goodness and it's nice and strong. I'm sure it's helped me lose a fair bit of weight.

Genmaicha (green tea and roasted rice) is my favourite. It's lovely!!

It definitely worth buying the more expensive green tea if you can manage it and it's best not to let it stand too long as that's what makes it bitter.

Oooh, I forgot that one. Rice Crispy tea, as it's known in our house.

Lovely after food, for digestion. May be a bit dry for some tastes, though.

I drink green and white tea pretty much every day... tea bag stuff isn't the best ever, but tis pretty nice. I have some green tea from Nepal and it's not much different to Organic Clipper teas or owt.

I like black tea too... it's not a caffeine thing, in fact I love caffeine and my black tea has to be STRONG and brewed. Green/white tea just slip down so nice, taste great, feel noticeably "healthy" :hmm: and it's nice not having to faff about with milk. Btw when you brew green/white, turn the kettle off before it boils; tastes better with below-boiling water i reckon.

Oh i have no shame when i comes to tea btw; i'll drink it cold, lukewarm, microwave-reheated, whatever... :p

Burmese green tea is the best. I drink it all day. Keeps me hydrated, got little caffeine, it's v tasty and keeps you healthy.

I'm none too keen on the stuff you get in the supermarkets in the UK though. No taste. Three or four chunky leaves here does the job and they can just sit in the mug; you need about a thousand in England and they get in yer gob.

rarely have caffeine anymore. Two cupoc of earl grey in the morn and thats it.

As someone who regularly used to drink 20 - 30 teas and coffees a day, cutting out caffeine was one of the best things i ever did!!

This is a very common misconception about green tea.

The vast majority of green teas sold in the UK & Europe are actually from the strains that contain more caffiene than the strongest coffees! :D
