Green Party leader?

I am not - nor have I ever have been - in the league of the devil. COntrary to the rumour spread by u JHE.

Are you sure he didn't say 'in league with the great Shaitan'? You know how he likes to drop the odd anglicised arabic phrase into his rantings against alleged Islamophiles to make it look as though he's fully au fait with "Islam" :D :p

Nah, I've never said anything of the sort about the Brigadier.

That other mad old narch, Smokedout, is a bit of a Satanist, when he's not playing with his tarot cards. But the Brig and you are clearly on the side of Allah.

The Brig led great military victories in Lebanon, you know. He doesn't like to boast about it.

Allahu akbar!

(When are you and the Brig going to execute Smokey?)

What say you about the desperate state of the world at war then JHE - are you going to lounge on your black swivelling computer chair forever, only getting up to wipe the globules off your hand? Or is it right to seek the way ahead for libertarian political praxis:D I know what I choose:p

I'd say have another drink, if it weren't so obvious that you've already had more than a few, Brig.

(I'll have to save up for the swivel chair.)

At last, we return to the topic, and someone finally mentions Brig !

My problem is that I like drink too much:eek: :D

You know, tea, latte, Cherry coke, lime coke, bottled fizzy water...

Would you like to correct whatever inaccuracies there may be in that WW article? Would you also like to clarify whether you are now an unhappy member of al-Respeq or an ex-member?

I've never been a member of any organisation called "al-Respeq" (sic). Ask me about Respect and I might deign to answer.

You are a coy boy!

You are obviously very pissed off with the Social Workers. Have you left what you insist on calling Respect and what, IYO, is inaccurate in that WW article?

I insist on calling it that because that is its name. If you use it without qualification I might get back to you on your question.

Can't back down can you?

:D

But am I bovvered?

I thought I had asked very politely - but, oh no, not good enough for precious Fisher Gate! :D

Anyway, it's trivial. I asked out of idle curiosity. It makes bugger all difference except to you. If you're out, you're politically homeless. If you're in, you are unhappily politically housed.

The forward slither of Islamo-Trottery is not halted quite yet.

Dhimmi,

I have read it, I just didn't want to stick my oar back in while people were having useful debate on it. And then FG and JHE started having a spat and I tuned out for a bit....:D ;)

I think the response is mostly what I expected actually - most people thinking that it is probably an good idea but won't make that much difference externally (which is my view, basically, though I think it will be of some use in increasing the efficiency of our internal organisation) and some people thinking that it will lead to a Die Grunen like path (which I don't agree with - after all, Die Grunen don't have a single leader officially, they just allowed behind the scenes imbalances of power to build up).

A far more important topic than the leader, actually, is how a decentralised political party holds its elected representatives to account - and what the balance between decentralisation and accountability should be. Too far one way and you're New Labour, too far the other and you're a 'postcode party'. I worry that all the emphasis on leader/non-leader actually obscures *real* governance issues like that one, which will become more and more of a big topic for the Greens as we continue to gain support.

Thanks to everyone for their replies!

Matt

Thought you might have, considered I'd try to out you though, see if we couldn't rerail the thread.

I'd be interested in hearing what you think the future for the Greens is. Especially with larger parties bandwagoning all things green.

I'm not as hopeful as I once was, and have only voted green once because I've only had the opportunity at one election. I also think the ground has moved, it's no longer a cross between ecological interest and intellect with a mild seasoning of hippyness. That's not a bad recipe IMHO.

The TV prog "It's not easy being Green" is, for me a good example of this. In tonghts episode there's the comfortable couple building a new house with their eyes firmly on house values. A pair of sisters who own an empty green field, which they want to develop into a "green campsite". The presenters drive around in a landy expressing how they like recycling materials because its "Kinda creative." Shallow as fuck but pleasing some demographic which probably doesn't deserve it...
