Greatest standup ever

I sort of like Doug Stanhope but at times he comes off like a Bill Hicks tribute act.

Glenn Wool is good stuff, Reggie D Hunter, Lloyd Lannegan....they're all good.

Stewart Lee, it's hard for me to see him as the best of all time, although he's probably my favourite and I've been bang into him since FOF.

Rob Newman's up there for me too.

And Jerry Sadowitz is a magician, but they're both still better than the rest on this list.

tbf, when he's on form, billy connolly is amazing.

too true - i had his "audience with Billy Connolly" on tape for years and loved it.

Part of the establishment now (not the Peter Cook club) so won't do too well on here - not very "edgy" anymore

his books are funny

You what? Leadenly written and with characters who barely achieve unidimensionality, his books are only driven by their numbingly predictable plots and by weak, weak sixth-form satire.

They should be burned. Along with their author.

Doug Stanhope is good and I saw him once deal with a heckler who accused him of being a Bill Hicks tribute act.

Doug Stanhope took him to pieces
