Greatest ever children's TV voiceover person - nominations thread

Have we done this thread before? (yeah I know silly question- all this has happened before and all this will happen again).

BUT Im getting a *slamming* case of deja-vu here.

Like the same posts in the same order! Shippy talking anime- Suplex talking Cribbins.

Bernard Cribbins!

And Brian Cant.

And Kenneth Williams (if he voice-overed Willo the Wisp...)

Not at all - the OP is very clear.

I fail to see the differrence between Neil Morrisey doing the voices on bob the builder and Peter Cullen doing the voices for Optimus Prime, Venger form D&D, Eee Aaw from winnie the Pooh and many more childrens cartoons?

Neil Morrissey doesn't put on individual voices. He's the narrator. So he reads the story and relates what each person says. Rather than being one of many voice actors.

quote form wikipedia:

Morrissey also starred in the John Godber film about rugby league called Up n Under and voiced several characters in the cult children's television series Bob the Builder, including the lead character; therefore he also scored a UK Number 1 single at Christmas 2000 with Can We Fix It?.

Some I'd forgotten about completely mentioned on this thread - just remembered another:

Eric Thompson - "Magic Roundabout"

Oliver Postgate for the range of stuff he did - Clangers, Ivor the Engine, Noggin the Nog, Bagpuss. The sound of his voice fills me with an overwhelming urge to curl up on the sofa with a biscuit and a glass of milk.

Arther Lowe, Richard Briers, Jonny Morris and Brain Cant were all great as well.

Neil Morrisey's voice is just fucking annoying. He made Bob the Builder sound like a student from the home counties.

Derek Griffiths for Heads and Tales, the voice of Super Ted, and generally being a great bloke to have on me telly growing up.

He was well cool. Didn't he do Bod aswell?

I was going to say Johnny Morris, thanks to whom I now think of giraffes as irredeemably posh. But now I know who Oliver Postgate is, it's all over...

I just want to say I fucking love you guys - just done a load of googling cos of a vague memory of Heads and Tales, accidentally discovered & watched clips of a) the fucking terrifying opening title of Picturebox & b) part of picture box story with 80s boy being chased by man in the bear costume of doom/from hell:eek::eek: on youtube - got all nostalgic about old childrens telly on the phone to my mum (she remembers Heads and Tales and sang the theme tune down the phone:D), and (re)discovered that Jon Pertwee(!) was Spotty on Superted!
