Great Songs About Motorbikes

Has that got motorbikes in it?
The old Rocker wore his hair too long,
wore his trouser cuffs too tight.
Unfashionable to the end --- drank his ale too light.
Death's head belt buckle --- yesterday's dreams ---
the transport caf' prophet of doom.
Ringing no change in his double-sewn seams
in his post-war-babe gloom.

Now he's too old to Rock'n'Roll but he's too young to die.

He once owned a Harley Davidson and a Triumph Bonneville.
Counted his friends in burned-out spark plugs
and prays that he always will.
But he's the last of the blue blood greaser boys
all of his mates are doing time:
married with three kids up by the ring road
sold their souls straight down the line.
And some of them own little sports cars
and meet at the tennis club do's.
For drinks on a Sunday --- work on Monday.
They've thrown away their blue suede shoes.

Now they're too old to Rock'n'Roll and they're too young to die.

So the old Rocker gets out his bike
to make a ton before he takes his leave.
Up on the A1 by Scotch Corner
just like it used to be.
And as he flies --- tears in his eyes ---
his wind-whipped words echo the final take
and he hits the trunk road doing around 120
with no room left to brake.

And he was too old to Rock'n'Roll but he was too young to die.
No, you're never too old to Rock'n'Roll if you're too young to die.

Sure does ;)

The Vincent Black Shadow one by Richard Thompson which I imagine someone has already mentioned but I can't be bothered to read the thread and find out. Sorry.

:(

The Jesus and Mary Chain: The Living End

a Dour Jock said:
I get ahead on my motorbike
I get ahead on my motorbike
I feel so quick in my leather boots
I feel so quick in my leather boots
My mood is black when my jacket's on
My mood is black when my jacket's on
And I'm in love with myself
And I'm in love with myself
There's nothing else but me
There's nothing else but me
And an empty road
And a cool cool wind and it makes feel so good
Just like I knew it would
Just like I knew it would

I get so wild on my motorbike
I get so wild on my motorbike
I'm breaking loose on this moonlit night
I'm breaking loose on this moonlit night
I cut the road like a sharpened knife
I cut the road like a sharpened knife
And I'm in love with myself
And I'm in love with myself
There's nothing else but me
There's nothing else but me
And an empty road
And a cool cool wind makes me feel so good

I'm moving too fast, * I'm moving too fast *
I'm moving so fast that I can't control the wheels
I'm moving so fast, * I'm moving so fast *
Yeah, I'm going for a tree, yeah it's going for me, yeah
My head is dripping into my leather boots.

Two pages in, and nobody has mentioned the all-time KING of motrcycle-related songs.

I refer, of course, to the Canadian band 'Steppenwolf' and their biker anthem 'Born To Be Wild.' As used in the cult classic film 'Easy Rider.'

You're absolutely correct. Except it was the first song mentioned in the OP.

Damn. There I was thinking I'd seem clever and obscure by coming up with songs by Richard Thompson, The TVPs, and The Pastels, and all I have left to suggest is bloody Born To Run.

No worries. I shall cheat. Which brings up Motorcycle Drive By (Third Eye Blind) which is at least halfway decent. Motorcycle Mama by Neil Young, to cheer NVP up.

Terry - Twinkle
Silver Machine - Hawkwind
Funky Moped - Jasper Carrott :hmm:
Guitar Wolf - Motor Cycle Leather Boy
Guitar Wolf - Kawasaki Z11 750 Rock'n'Roll
Ride To Live Live To Ride - Twisted Sister
Boxhill or Bust - Dumpys Rusty Nuts :D
Just For Kicks - Mike Sarne
Motorcycle Mama - Neil Young

2Entendre's third single "I want a throbbing, powerful machine inbetween my legs" is an awesome song

Oh yeh - Barry Bigbel sings "TOUCH MY HELMET DARLING, RIDE ME REAL FAST, THEN PULL MY LEVER UNTIL I STOP (OR THE CLUTCH DISENGAGES), "

Ooh yeah, Motorcycle Mama, forgot that one. I thought there must be a NY one somewhere as he's so obsessed with cars and stuff.
