Great British Football team?

if rugby can have the lions without everyone bitching i don't see why football can't have the same.

as long as its not a permenent thing obviously though. But fifa are saying it doesn't need to be so i don't see the problem. If it does happen though i reckon a manager not connected with any of the national teams should do it. maybe alex ferguson or someone rather then the current england/scots/welsh/NI managers.

What is a "plastic" anyway?

I think I may be one (sort of). Although an ardent Rams fan, I like to see Celtic do well and "support" them from the pub. When I grew up though it was "who's your Scots team" etc, and I picked them 'cos they wore the strip of my fav sweets,Pacers .

Up the Pacers!! Oh it's a grand old team to play for...

A few of my friends are of Irish stock and feel an allegiance to Celtic, these are "plastic" too I think. Someone will put me right if I'm wrong.

Rugby is a completely different world to football. You cannot really use the Lions as an example for a GB Football team. In rugby it has worked because the Lions have existed for over 100 years.
There is bitching but i dont think anyone has called for the Lions to be extinguished. I for one still want to see Lions tours in the future.

Fuck off with yer 'British' (actually GB & NI seeing as the Irish aint Brits and that's what our Olympic team is called) team. What's the point? The Olympic football is mickey mouse anyway.

I'm still waiting for someone to promote the presence of Roy Keane/Robbie Keane etc in such a side as a plus point. Trust me, it always happens when this subject comes up.
