Grand National - which horse are you betting on?

Very late to this thread,

I backed the winner Silver Birch and 4th place horse Philson Run. My aunt in Kent backed the 2nd and 3rd horses!

Anyhow I phoned my dad from Canada, late Friday night, to put a measly two quid each way on SB and a pound on PR to win. So I got a return. Not enough to go nuts but enough. My dad said if I had laid the odds opposite on those two bets I would have done rather well.

Anyhow the race was great. I listened online, picture Begbie in Trainspotting, okay maybe a bit less intense, but I was rapping on the table beneath my laptop with every fallen horse and SB gaining. I had no idea about PR until my dad told me. I didn't even hear mention of the horse in the whole race commentary. I love 5 Live, and 5 Live Extra (the cricket!)

On Saturday night had a blast discussing the race with a lovely English lass but the Canucks didn't have a clue. Just two mad Brits!

Won 45 quid Dad says

I went with L'Ami andSimon andone beginning with H i think...gutted i didn't put a place bet on Philson, the odds were amazing and i considered it but changed my mind :P

i have a fool proof system for betting on dogs and horses. I generally get really good returns on it too.

I bet on the animal that has a name either like a monkey, or one that reminds me of a monkey.

It never works for the grand national though. Most of the ones i bet on get injured or shot.

silver birch - the monkey?

monkey on a silver birch maybe?
