Butlers Cabin , was going very well last year before falling at Beechers 2nd time around , has been treated very well by the handicapper and is carrying much less weight . Not a great price but better a short priced winner than a long priced loser.
McCoy has chosen to ride him again this year which must mean he fancies him too. He'd be a hugely popular winner
Big negative is his French breeding but I suppose the trend will be broken some day.
I get your point about prices but 8/12 is very skinny for the National
I also have it doubled with Crowded House in the finest horse race in the world , The Derby .
I going to the Derby this year for my first time, really looking forward to it. Crowded House is 6/1 with William Hill. So a tenner double pays out 630 quid. Nice work if you can get it.
I have a tenner each way double today on Ping Pong Sivola and Voy Per Ustedes in todays 3.45 and 3.10.
To be honest, people who bet seriously will tend to steer clear of this race, won't they?
that's absolutely the way IMO - i rarely bet, but I've won on the national 3 out of the past 4 years using that strategy.betting on 3 horses on the GN is the way to go. splashing on a short odds and sticking a cheaky couple of pounds on two outsiders
just put down -
£5 EW on kilbeggan blade 22-1
£2.50 EW on parsons legacy 14-1
£5 WIN on rambling minster 10-1

So why not Butlers Cabin ? don`t be suckered by the price , a winner is a winner , don`t count it before you win it.![]()

i reckon i might go for:
Parsons Legacy - winner
Rambling Minster will prob be there at the end - might do an e/w on him tho as others could be faster. Butler's Cabin looks a good bet too, assuming he can stay on his feet. And maybe Hear The Echo at 26-1 as the chance to try and win some real cash!

unless I missed something, doesn;t the quickest horse win the race"Faster" isn't something to really consider in the Grand National!!![]()

not really, i think it's quite an easy race to predict (famous last words). my tips are:

Rambling Minster
Butlers Cabin
Parsons Legacy
i think you can disregard: all those who thrive on soft ground, all those who have been treated harshly by the handicapper, those in bad form, French ones, those who consistently fall/unseat rider, and those entered for a laugh (eg complete no hopers)
Summary:
Based on the trends from the past 10 years you are looking for a horse:
· Aged 9 or 10
· Carrying 10-10 or less
· Officially rated 136 to 144
· Won a graded chase
· Won over 3M+
· Placed in the Irish/Welsh/Scottish/Aintree Grand National
· Run in 6 to 14 handicap chases and at least 10 chases
· Priced 20/1 or below
· Trained in Ireland
Holy mother . . . jesus . . . :: faints::Big word for Solwhit in the Aintree Hurdle on Saturday - was 9/1 now 7/1.
Either back it on Betfair and lay in running OR do it in an eachway double with your National pick, is my thought - will run a big race but it's competitive . . .
