Grand Designs - Water tower

actually i quite like the technical aspec of it with all the technologies involved

plus my dad lectures in bulding services and has a big intrest in zero carbon development so it's always intresting to see how things like this are taken into consideration (or not in some cases)

I’ve always been conflicted about GD and it’s proved difficult to pinpoint why. I’d certainly agree it’s aspiration tv for viewers and a giant ‘look at me’ for this weeks contestants.

It does often feel like Our Kev’s architectural, green and aesthetic observations just dilute the above; adding a little high minded gloss to the rather base premise of the show.

Certainly an interesting dynamic between viewers, builders and C4. Tricky one.

I don't understand all this hatred of rich people, I would love to be rich, then I too, could build my Dream house, a super-eco, never-worrry-about-bills (bill-less) grass roofed demi-paradise. In fact I think this program is a good model of how houses should be built in Britain each one different and unique and not bleak council estate follies and Barrat Lego-Houses.
