It's been quite useful recently with planning episodes of a podcast thing I do but it is a right computer killer. My machine just couldn't handle that, the poor old thing. I can finally see how it might have been good but yeah, lagged like a twat.
Still a good idea but the performance issues and that they release the sign ups slowly meant that I couldn't get people at work signed up and that is where it would have been useful.
The team that brought google maps to the world have been busy for the last couple of years with an open source in-browser 'app' that will likely once again have a big impact on online communication.

We used Google Wave pretty extensively in the houseshare I lived in during it's brief life hah. We had a wave for bills, one for gigs coming up, and another as a general notice board.
