Google street view rivals using Leica camera?

Saw a car today with some Leica gubbins mounted on the roof, saw it again a few minutes later coming back the other way so I assume it’s doing some street mapping ala google street view but presumably for someone else. Bing perhaps? Is anyone else doing street view stuff? I really need to know so I can check out myself looking at the camera car.

Sure it wasn't some kind of Leica promo? It would seem a bit of overkill to use such expensive optics for the relatively modest requirements of street view scenes.

I saw one the other week, but it passed too quickly to enable me to read the signage on it. But it wasn't google.

After some more googling I managed to find it. It’s a product from Leica Geosystems that is used by third parties like the Highways Agency for survey work: Leica Pegasus:Two Mobile Sensor Platform

Sadly this means my picture probably won’t be on the internet
