Cheers installing now. Should be fun trying to learn my way around a new browser.

Wonder if they will break Firefox 3 downloads in a day record?

ummm 3 downloads at 7.55pm? were we all just reminded by c4 news to get this?

:)

No - I was sad enough to watching a text cast from the Cali conference

It seems very quick - a bit sparse - and only having the one address/search is different.

Installing.

How on earth did C4 News get the MS interviewee to sit in front of a blown-up page of the Google comic? :D

Imports all the passwords from Firefox, what a result, I really couldn't have been arsed to change my password and wait for an email and I have no idea what it is anymore.

I quite like it so far, it is very clean. Seems very fast. First thing I done is come here and post so lets see how it goes for a bit.

Got a spell checker embedded it seems, which might be handy actually.

Heh Heh - nearly choked the fucker - opened all my main bookmarks - 16 tabs and it suddenly went very very slow!

Nice. Urban bookmark on the toolbar just where Firefox left it - along with the rest - and it already knew my password. :hmm:

Well I can't find anything to suggest either way as to there being a Mac beta available...

I have no doubt it will end up on OSX though.

There was a note in the introduction to say Mac and Linux versions are on the way when I read it earlier.

I do like the idea of each tab having its own process.

We've released this beta for Windows to start the broader discussion and hear from you as quickly as possible. We're hard at work building versions for Mac and Linux too, and we'll continue to make it even faster and more robust.

It looks bloody awful.

The way it's rendering fonts is shit compared to IE7, and the bright blue title bar looks like it's been made by Fisher Price.

If you right click the tab bar at the very top there's a task manager option which tells you resources for each tab. And a *stats for nerds* thingy which gives you a nice big memory map.
:cool::cool::cool:

Using Chrome to post this now.

editor should have fun seeing it pop up in the site stats.

First impression: fast.

Just installed it now. The way it imported all my Firefox passwords and bookmarks was s-w-e-e-t and so far it's as fast as fuck.

Initial impression: goodbye Firefox!

Whereas I switched from Firefox and it looks about the same despite the Opera-esque tabs. It's IE7 that jars for me.

I just went back to a very sluggish Firefox because I couldn't get used to Opera. It's opening pages lightening fast and Ctrl-t works like I expect it to. Hallelujah!

It managed all my bookmarks from IE7, but seems to have failed on the passwords.

It's fast though, I'll give it that, but the thin looking fonts are doing my head in.

I love it - so fast, and it looks better somehow. And it does a spellcheck as I type - no more excuses for typos everywhere.

What about Adblock Plus? Does it have an equivalent?

No status bar at the bottom, I find that off putting. Probably a way to turn it on, but not found it yet.
There is - it just isn't there when it's not telling you anything. Same with the stop button - it's (irritatingly) located to the right of the address bar and is only visible when a page is loading.

I was just about to moan about no stop button, well spotted that man/woman (how do I know honestly?)

My text is as crisp as it always was (but I've always had that blurry shite turned off - Safari was even worse)
