Good luck to Villa Real tonight.

Everton coming out the same way they played the first half - all guns blazing

So Everton finished higher in the league than Liverpool, but it looks as if Everton won't be in the Champions League, and Liverpool will.

What do people think about this?

One up front in Europe?

Everton simply aren't good enough are this, neither is James Beattie

They'll be midtable this season, its a pattern

3 seasons ago they missed out on UEFA Cup by a point, the next season they nearly went down, last season they win 4th spot...next season....

AS for the League placings, lets not get technical about the Champions League, Everton and Manchester United DID NOT win the chance to play in the competition proper, merely a chance thru a qualifying game. Liverpool were awarded the chance thru UEFA, the governing body. If Liverpool and Man Utd take their chance, and Everton don't, thats their problem

Another view is that calling any of this a "Champions'" League is an insult to our intelligence, that it's of very little interest to either man or beast and that it is, moreover, still the cricket season.

Pleased with Everton so far but we've been caught out twice, betrays a little bit of Euro-naivity.

Missing the first Bristol Rovers home game of the season for this - we're 1-0 up v Grimsby. Everton had better reward my sacrifice then ;)

Is now a good time to point out Rovers are losing 1-2 as well :p :D ;)

Arse

A bit more needed up front really, we've had anough possession and territorial advantage

I think it's because we've had more success in europe, therefore we were seeded higher. Do you need anything else explained? :D

Not going to gloat too much, as we've still got to play tomorrow, but there's no disguising the fact that I am very, very happy that those tramp cunts have lost. Very happy.

Fucking bitter twats deserve everything that they get.

A bit of variety more like. lets bring on some substitutes and just bang it up the middle or from the sides of we manage to string more than three passes together. Didn't Craig Bellamy, who woyuld have bought tht bit of variety, turn you down? For Blackburn?

Anyway, Riquelme was head and shoulders above anyone else on that pitch.

Yes. He also turned down Villa & Celtic because he's small time. Your point is what?

I really hope Moyes stays at that shite heap for a long time to come. His transfer dealings aside, he is tactically inept - you're at home in the CL against a better team, you've got one chance to out-muscle them and take a lead into the second leg. So what does he do? Plays one up front. Genius. They're playing 4-4-2, so the midfield was never going to be over-run, yet he puts Beattie up front on his own - ok, he managed to nick one, but seeing as how they got two, Everton had no chance.

The knives will be out at the end of this season, but I really hope old gaylord luvvie Kenwright keeps him there for many years to come.

that you needed someone like craig bellamy last night. but you didn't have him or anyone like him.

Incidentally there's a chap called David Villa at Valencia who is well worth a look for anyone after a short nippy good on the ball striker.

Everton - pump it up front and see what happens.

20 years ago that might have caught a few out. Times have changed.

<champions league - you're having a laugh>

Having re-watched the match, i'm really beginning to wonder why we didn't take Riquelme back this season.

you don't need him. i was looking in sport on tuesday and you already have quite enough cover in every position. Van Bommel isn't even going to start...

I guess...but i'm sure Chelsea wil try and offer a billion dollars for Ronny next summer, despite him signing a new contract! Guily has been palying midfield a fair bit, and Van Bommel was more likely bought as cover for Marquez anyway.
