Good dentist needed, NHS if possible.

But what about the dentists on New Park Road? (she wailed)

I need a dentist, they take on NHS patients, and they're only a few doors from me. Come on - someone MUST have been, surely?

Is this the one almost opposite NPR? IF so - it's brilliant! Been going there for thirteen years. Rabia is yer lady. Top dentist. They take NHS.

Resurrecting an old thread to praise Blu Dental Care place opposite the Academy.

Broke a tooth whilst on holiday last month, and couldn't get access to a dentist for another month, but on the NHS they got me an instant emergency appointment, followed by a quick and well done filling. Referral to a place in Forest Hill for an extraction 'for nervous patients'.

I've also got The Fear when it comes to dentists sticking their fingers in my mouth, which they've been great about.

Are they still taking NHS (lots of places do but are "full up")... so far the only place I've found that still is, is on the Wandsworth Road and I'd prefer to be closer to home..

the ones up by Stockwell tube (next door to Monoptics opticians) seemed not just to take NHS patients but to be actively touting for business ... there might be something scammy behind it, but at least it's an option.

also useful if you either speak spanish or portuguese only, or are in dental charge of someone in that situation - their receptionists and I think one of the hygienists too speaks da hispanic.

cheers for that - looking for one at the moment and they sound a bit good.

I went..maybe 3 months ago now and they treated me on NHS, and I was brand new patient.

I just told them I was from the posh end of Brockwell Gate.

This thread is timely because I want to change my dentist (right by L'boro Junc).

I've been with them years, but the practice has changed hands several times and it seems to be getting well tatty. When you get a reminder note that's (badly) hand written with your name spelt wrong, it's not exactly encouraging.

I used to be there, and got fed up with eternal temporary fillings. I changed to Patels at Cambwerwell church street without any problem, nhs (opp the green, think the same one as zennie) and it is so different. All new equipment, clean premises, prompt treatment, and Dr Patel is quite dashing. (which is a bonus for me, and takes my mind off what's going on :D) I recommend them.

right - I'll try again then - because it's easily the closest.... it must be some sort of one in one out policy - or maybe they just didn't like the cut of my jib... :(

I had my check up + root canal on nhs but had the white filling thingy private cos i didnt want metal

Gaijin girl - the big poster outside it saying that they took NHS was one of the main reasons I went! Oh and I got a white filling too.

Yes, me too, (I'm not making up what I've said in my other posts!!) but when I actually went inside the surgery and asked and said I wanted to sign up as NHS - they said no they had filled their NHS quotient. I had the work done privately instead at that same surgery. I will, however, check again in case this has changed since then as obviously if I'm going there anyway, I'd rather it was NHS.

You are fucking joking aren't you. I left that surgery because of her. She was like a butcher. I'm sure she must have had an argument with her husband the morning she treated me. She went about my mouth as if she were wielding a pickaxe

NEVER EVER AGAIN

I'm going to my dentist on Monday. I'm sure last time I went past there was a notice saying they were taking on NHS patients.

It's a bit of a nightmare - my dentist in Clapham has gone private and kicked me off his books.

I think I'll just have to pay at Herne Hill....

gaijin - Just got back from my dentist. They're still taking NHS patients.

I'm pleased to announce I don't have oral cancer. I've been panicking a bit for the last couple of months because of a recurring ulcer and swollen gum. Would seem it's connected with a root canal though :o

blue dental care (as mentioned above) are taking nhs patients at the moment (including those on benefits)
pretty darned fast and all - got an appointment monday (i wish there was a 'scared' smiley)

always good to hear someone don't have oral cancer, minnie :)
damn root canals though

apparently it's a breakdown of the root canal, which can happen sometimes.

Told me if the ulcer reappears, try Bonjela etc, but if pain gets worse to come back and they'll have to retreat it, but I don't have an infection and I don't have oral cancer. :o

just bumping for feedback on blue care.... they were very very very nice indeed. pretty much on time with my appointment, no problem with me being severely nervous, and not at all lecturey about the state of me teeth (thank goodness).
going back in a fortnight for fillings :o

i am in agony. got an appointment with blue care after deciding i couldn't go back to pavilion practice. got to wait til friday though. how do i cope between now and then? the alternating paracetemol and iboprofen barely does a thing and the clove oil that i'd been recommended just ended up burning my lips and tastes too strong, making me nausueous.

Swish some brandy/whiskey around your mouth maybe

then drink the rest of the bottle

i have turned over a new leaf though. booze is not the answer. it's the cause.
i blame the chucklehead - it must be very corrosive.

Did you explain to them that you are in agony and ask for an emergency appointment?

you could try manky clove oil.

He's already tried clove oil.

He could go to King's College first thing in the morning but it's not guaranteed he'll be seen
