good article about newcastle

Curiously enough, one of the chapters of my book was devoted to explaining the various ways in which directors of football clubs could make money out of those clubs rather than "putting their money in". I confess I didn't have the knowledge - or ingenuity - to think of all of them though.

Yeah I'd be interested to see what Ranieri could do.

What are other people's opinions on the possibility of him getting the job?

Seems like a decent man. He did OK at Chelsea and I think I'd prefer him to Houllier.

TBH I'd be happy

Yeah I thought the same, daft as it might be to say it he seems like a nice bloke. That aside it's unlikely he could do a worse job than Souness even if he had some sort of grudge against the club and decided he wanted to bring it down from the inside :D

So yeah I'd be pleased too.

Was talking to a mackem I work with today. We couln't work out the tow teams

If our plays had their 100%ed ness we'd win the fucking world thing.

Good players who couldn't give a toss every time.

What is it about the toon? Since KK went every player we've bought has not lived up to our expectations (apart from imo Woodgate best CB i've ever seen)

Parker and Solano are probably the exceptions imo

Taylor we didn't buy. Emre too early to say he's fulfilled expectations

Lee a KK purchase (great player agreed)

Bellamy good player did more damge to the club than good (imo).

i dunno if we do really underachieve tbh, i still remember the season after bobby's best in the chamions league when chelsea got bought out

when we had a very promising young team, we should have qualified for the champ again but managed to fuck it up

but the thing that struck me at the start of the year, was our lack of spending

man utd bought ronaldo
arsenal had just gotten reyes
liverpool spent about 20 million
and chelsea spent about 80 mill

we didnt buy anyone, apparently we nearly got kluivert but his wages were too high, we never got back to the champions league after that, so are we underachievers or just punching over our weight??

sure there were wastes of money like viana, but he can be compared to veron at man utd who cpst 3 times as much and made about the same impact (virtually none)
