Last week I found my beloved DM boots (bought while a: they were still made in England and b: less that £70 a pair) whilst I was looking through a box of stuff yet to be unpacked.
I think Betty MacDonald (The Egg and I) wrote the definitive description of moving in her novel 'Onions in the Stew'
it begins with something like '.....then I began to run out of the same thing to pack boxes with, also out of boxes, patience and time'...... it continues with dire descriptions of journey, teens, husnband, pets, removal men, first day in the new home etc etc etc.
