Good and bad things about packing for a move

Threads are made for derailing eg ;)

So have you got a flat a now?

Can't think of any packing tips... erm... sorry.

gaffa tape is a million times better than parcel tape- just make sure you get the high quality stuff, i've repaired clothes with it before... i've seen people use it as clothes...

anyhow, best thing about moving house is all the drugs you find stashed in weird places.

I wonder what tape Jenny Eclair used for packing, when she was moving into her house on the Camberwell / Dulwich border? :hmm:

Not yet. Basically I'm a travelling hobo, a willo the wisp.

My landlord is letting me store my stuff here till I get a place so that's good but I need to pack it all up so I can move it when I'm ready. So until then I'm living hopping between London and Rye out of a suitcase.

New Cross is quite a good choice ... have a look at Lewisham too

Oh yeah? Drugs really? DRUGS?! WHERE ARE THE DRUGS? I found lots of little straws but no DRUGS. I found some ticket stubs from a theatre I worked in TWO years ago but no DRUGS! I found a weird photo of someone I have no recollection of and also a tinkerbell folder and notepad, when was I THAT girl?! But no DRUGS!

I do love a bit of gaffer tape, but you don't need it for boxes - parcel tape will do, and it's cheaper. Use gaffer to fix bags, shoes, clothes :o :D

I've got lots of boxes if you want em? :D

I have never found drugs

I always thought it was gaffa, but it *is* gaffer. I just bought some while I was out getting some bread and milk.

I actually prefer the "gaffa" spelling, even though it looks a bit like Jaffa. If duct tape is for taping up ducts, gaffer tape would be for taping up the gaffer, and while that may be sound like a good idea to you anarchists, it's not what it's designed for.

Back on track: label your boxes. It might seem stupid if you're, like, moving from a bedroom to a bedroom (in a shared house, like not mmoving your ENTIRE 3 BED HOUSE etc) but it really helps. I thought 'oh yes is hoover box full of bathroom bits and is archive box from work full of kitchen bits - i'll rememmber that' but you don't at all and it's a massive pain in the bum

I was trying to find a hilarious image of an old man bound up with gaffer tape but in the process found out that old gaffers are also ships ...

My new thing learnt for the day.

Yeah I think I will do that, if only because it would be satisfying. And I want to reclaim some of that satisfaction back before it all turned bad like last night.

And what you want for that is big sticky labels. And a chisel-tipped marker pen.

Yah man. Can you also steal a Big Black Marker Pen from work? Most satisfying

I've been typing out the contents of mine in very big bold font, but I suspect I might tire of that shortly

You could always number the boxes, then make a master spreadsheet. Actually it's probably a good idea to both label the boxes AND number them and have a spreadsheet, because that way not only do you immediately know what's in them, you can also tell if any are missing.
