I was thinking more the phildandering type, but he's not is he? :(

I am puzzled by Gok Wan's lack of veiled misogyny and wonder whether he may be batting for the other side.

Good clothes hang well on anyone - again, Gok's program proves this time and again.

I disagree, perhaps it's subjective.

The "pressure from other women" thing is fucking unbelieveable. Maybe I move in a completely bizarre social circle, but the women I know are constantly complimenting and supporting each other and never presenting themselves with ludicrously unachievable targets.

Again, I only go off what straight women mates have told me. Whenever the idea's been raised that they wear make-up and high heels and such for men's benefit, they've always said they feel much more pressure about what the other women in the room are thinking....

To be completely fair, I don't believe the problem is restricted to gay men in the industry and I'm very wary of this looking anti-gay, it isnt meant to be. More anti-fashion and the (IMO) big part that gay men in the industry play in warping womens view of themselves.

I don't think 'fashion' per se is responsible. After all, Gok Wan is a gay fashion guru, he doesn't tell these women that fashion is useless, to wear brown sacks and just shine from within. He tells them what cuts to wear to hide their fat bellies (proud of that belly are we?), he tells them which colours will not drain their face (who cares if your face is drained if you have a nice, shiny soul?).

This is ALL ABOUT looking attractive, and that's as base and as shallow as any attempt to put style over substance, to gild the lily of womanhood.

Looking your best, whatever you've got from God and the biscuit tin, is Gok's message. And that means embracing fashion in the shape you are, not rejecting it wholesale.

I have a healthy anti-fashion streak (coming from someone who's been known to wear a silver puffa jacket over a green kaftan, I can hardly not.) But I don't think Gok is anti-fashion at all, he just wants it to be accessible to everyone regardless of shape. And that's cool, isn't it, when we belong to a species that puts so much stock on how we look to each other's eyes?

NB: NBN used to call himself Poofta before Firky joined and is understandably tetchy about its spelling ;)

Yeah, I saw that too!

I reckon it is bollox myself, there was no pics and he hasn't the frame of a fat bloke. He has the same frame as me!

He was on that Gordon Ramsey thing a couple of weeks ago where they have a sleb cooking the same dish as Ramsey and then the diners decide which one is best. He was saying that his entire family are fat, with "a typical Asian attitude to food", and that he lost a lot of weight when he stopped living at home and didn't have bowls of soup and dumplings shoved under his snout every couple of hours.
Check out his arms next time you see him on telly. Very slack-looking skin, so he could have been as big as he claims.

I love Gok as well. I saw him at Paddington station the other week and had to restrain myself from telling him how fab I think he is. :o

His enthusiasm for the female form, especially a nice pair of "bangers", is truly uplifting.

it was suprisingly sweet how he was so nervous on JR (totally useless man) and also how his name kind of evolved from English mispronunciation in Leicester.

He's ok

Saw the Gok show and found it better than the Trinny and mate show.
He gives confidence back to women and that's a good thing.
Saw him on Ross and he came across as a nice bloke.:)

I might be getting my threads mixed up, but is this about a domestic cleaning product that produces incredible results?

Thought Gok came across very warmly. Lovely guy.

I got very tired of Jonathon's 'fat ugly bird, larger lady crap' though. He is so tiresome.

I saw Gok Wan on Carnaby Street recently where he was accosted by some fans, who he was absolutely lovely to - took time for photos and stuff and gave them a big friendly wave goodbye. Bless his fashionable cotton socks.
