Going to California episode 2.

Stanley been banned again? That's a shame, I like reading his threads, they tend to be very entertaining.
At least we'll be spared the half a dozen or so tedious cunts who need to post on every one of them because they don't like him.
If ever I go to his part of Spain, I'm gonna buy him a drink and get him to draw me something to put up on my kichen wall as a way of thanking him for the fun reads he has given me.

it's funny that stan himself knew what he was posting was out of order, but his little fanclub of contrarians here lack even that awareness.
I can only speak for myself, and I am presuming you mistakenly include me in the club you have invented, but I've not said he wasn't out of order.

Actually, I can also speak for gabi, as he has specifically referred to Stan being a dick.

I wish I'd got him to do me a sketch yesterday. I like what I've seen of his work.

I don't think anyone has, have they? I'm sure they will now though, if they do, because you've specifically asked.
What exactly were we supposed to understand when you said stanley had been banned because some people don't like him and when Gabi told us it wasn't a racist thing to say?

Are people seriously going stand by "dirty little Moroccans" on here?
IIRC he said that whoever the thieves were he would have referred to them as being "dirty little Moroccan/French/N European/English etc." He used the phrase as a descriptor. In this way I don't find the statement offensive. He also explained that the local people would support the statement that the thieves were predominantly Moroccan. Again I think that he was using it as a description and was not saying "The thieves were Moroccan and, therefore, all Moroccans are thieves." Had that been his intention then I would, as quickly as others have, condemn him.

mango5 has said she banned him because of a 'persistant trickle' rather than the one statement.

gabi hasn't said that, has he?

iirc, he said the opposite. That if they'd been english or american or whatever, he'd have called them "dirty little cunts".

A few posts above yours:
Where did he say something racist? He said that a lot of the street crime in his little area was currently being committed by people from a certain country. I've no reason to doubt his opinion. He said senior people from within that community would admit the same. Do you think he's lying about that?

Persistent trickle or not, he's ultimately been banned for a racist remark, not because some people don't like him.

This.I was the one who asked him and he responded directly to me. He knows he fucked up and admitted as much. Racist comments aren't tolerated on urban, who knew?

Oh, come on, you're not this daft.

Firstly, generalising about a community based on your own anecdotal experience is a pretty classic form of racism and "everyone around here thinks the same" is hardly a defence. Show me any community where there are tensions between different ethnic groups and I'll show you the exact same form of racism.

Secondly, "dirty little" is, at the very least, an ill-chosen pair of adjectives to put in front of Moroccan, given how dehumanising it is and the fact that ideas about "dirtyness" have a long and unpleasant history in racist European descriptions of North Africans.

.
Only if that single standalone comment would have got any other poster on the boards banned on it's own merits.
You don't think that on its own it warrants at least a temp ban? (and who knows, maybe the mods got reported posts that passed us by)

Racism in Spain against North Africans and Arabs is nothing new either. What Stan said feeds into centuries of it. Stan isn't the only one with knoweledge of Spain, Spanish culture etc. The challenge of him on what he said is more than simply not liking him.
Quite. I remember the time I was robbed when I lived in Madrid. I got back to my flat and my flatmate's (Spanish) girlfriend immediately asked me if they were Moroccan. I then went to the police station where they again felt it necessary to deliberately ask me if they were Moroccan.

How the fuck I was supposed to instantly know the origins of two men who grabbed me from behind and never spoke is beyond me.

To quote from Stan's posts: (apologies for the cut and paste, but in this case I think it is relevant for clearing up the "confusion" about what was actually said)
I am going to bed. Some dirty little Moroccans are hounding my stuff.
I refer to any thieving cunts as dirty little fuckers. Wouldn't think twice about kicking them in the back of the head also.
I call any thieving little cunts what they are regardless of skin colour, or nationality. I know these kids stole from a homeless guy the evening before. They are dirty little shites. Sorry. (snip)
Fuck them. Dirty, thieving little fuckers who happen to come from Morocco.
Sorry about that. If they had been English, or East European, or North European (as per the Rick Steve quote) I would have said so. OK? Or, not OK?

So, based on these quotes, directly from Stan, I stand by my statement, and think that some posters are mis-remembering what he actually said.
