I think the guy with the violin is just that little bit cooler

btw.. when looking for a pic of the violin guy to post, found these cool pics.

good to see/meet all those I met/saw ;)
He was pretty cool too... especially seeing as his bow was breaking
Was nice to meet your Mrs, sorry I got her name so wrong, even if she didn't notice :o

I second WOW's call for the gogols to play Glastonbury. They'd love it there. I can well imagine losing a welly in the mosh pit to Indestructable!

definately! although never mind the jazz stage, lets get em in a couple of the bigger tents with a 3am appearance in lost vagueness as well as a jazz stage headline!!!:D

why not! hayseed dixie i saw 3 times in 36 hours! alabama 3 where definately at least the jazz stage, plus in the circus/market area at 1am?
that would be fantastic.... or have i taken it too far!

Only got in halfway through the Bedouin Soundclash set but they sounded cool enough to investigate further.
I think I got to the gig not long after you. I didn't get Bedouin Soundclash at all. It sounded like Coldplay playing Dub to me.

Not a Crime! :p

yeah I noticed the strings everywhere, initially thought it was just something attached to his bow.. a tassle or something :D

don't worry about the g/f name thing, it was loud. Anyway, she did something equally funny when you were standing there - while talking about 'people from urban' she was wondering how you can tell (online) if someone is male or female. I was like well sometimes you can't, but sometimes you can guess pretty much from their name. So she said 'so someone like Biddly-bee (said in a high pitched funny voice) is a girl then?' ...cue me cracking up and pointing at you and her looking aghast with embarassment! :D

She had just picked a name on Urban that she had seen at random, but it just happened to be yours!

of all the girls in all the world.... ;)

I kept thinking of The Police but maybe that was just because of the set-up , GB were excellent it was first time I`d seen them live and already looking forward to the next , Glastonbury would be perfect.

I got to say a quick hello to WOW very briefly in The Trinity , who is now officially my " The first Urban you ever met " not bad after 4 years.

Didn't see any urban people, but really enjoyed it. Thought gogol bordello got better and better as the gig went on.

Afraid I didn't really 'get' them.. right time, right place, etc.. if I'd been less pissed I'd have probably had fun down the front.. Anyhow, with double vision, there appeared to about 20 people on stage for most of the gig.

Roll on the Jethro Tull tribute!!!

Froms Eds pics it looks like you were all miles back, the mosh pit was where all the action was ;)

Maybe you're all too old :p

that's where I was for half an hour  and then I got sick of it :o

Sound was much better towards the middle of the room - over to the left it sucked. Good fun band though.

Did it what... talk about wishy-washy sound. I've always stood near the front left when going to the academy & I swear it's never been that bad before! Such a pity as GB gave a blinding energetic performance but due to the crap sound & audience distance from the stage, the experience wasn't halfway nearly as enjoyable as the time I saw them at sziget. Oh well... still a fun night was had.

the sound at the Academy is usually poor unless you're in the 'hotspot' centre.
We were deffo in that there hotspot thing then.

It sounded great where we were!

oh yeh, it CAN sound great..

it's always (or almost always) the same there, as discussed before - bands either bring insufficient PA or just add a load of boxes to their usual tour PA and it sounds like shite. I've been to literally dozens of gigs there (used to be on a permanent guest list  ) and could count on two hands the gigs where the sound was really up to scratch :(

I thought that too. His voice as much as anything I reckon. I thought that cover thingy they did last was heavy.
Sound was great kinda middle/right btw.

I was mostly on the left and not too far forward :( and I agree that the sound quality was far from brilliant, but I still had a pretty good time ... still, I reckon any risk of sound perfectionism I might have had, went right out of the window after well over an hour in the pub beforehand ... :p

The carrots got past security with only a few weird reactions. Goodness sake, you'd have thought it was the first time they'd seen purple carrots brought into a gig
So did you throw them at the stage during start wearing purple, wearing purple?

Why did you have purple carrots?
