'ALLELUJAH! DON'T BEND! ASCEND!
Get the f' in!
they should have left things as they were, with a decent legacy
This is exactly like their other stuff, nothing new but still good. So their legacy is very much intact I reckon.
Can't really get a sense of all the layers even at 720p because headphones + laptop doesn't just have the volume required.
Well am not listening to that againuntil I have their album, I am impressed.
on my first listen - like Firky says nothing new sounds like they used to.
but not in a bad way, it's pretty damn good
I've always found the band name to be irritating. Why? I don't know.
in fact, this doesn't suprise me at all
One of the tracks is Albania or is it called Mladic?, which have been played live from what I've read they were meant to part of yanqui uxo but we were not ready. So not quite new material but it is gonna be pretty awesome.
Constellation have stopped taking vinyl orders though...
eta Ouch beat me to it. Sorry.
might have it lossless flac. pm me
Might well be for the best that they're old songs
Pre-order placed for the wife. I may have a listen. It ships on the 15th according to Amazon.
Yanqui UXO isn't in the same league as the other three records. It's ruined by Albini's production imo, it's all too 'squashed' and smooth. I hope this is recorded more, er...'roomily' Part of me wants to disregard this and part of me desperately want to hear it. Nothing can be as good as their first two records. For me music is divided into two catagories, music I heard pre-godspeed and post-godspeed. It's not like they are totally groundbreaking, I've since realised that stuff like the early Swans stuff did similar things earlier but for me personally, they changed utterly my relationship with music. It's kind of sad to me that this record is unlikely to melt my head in quite the same way but I suppose that's an age thing generally.
You know they're playing in London the the 4th of November and tickets are still available? Only £20.
It is in my hand
A terrible admition. I dozed off at their gig in Bristol few years ago. In my defence, I was half cut, bit man fluey and cold from waiting outside when they were an hour late. Still a good gig mind.
I'll have to get this new album whhen I can. Will be getting my old speakers delivered soon too. proper stereo separation once again. How I've miss thee.
Will try to go but gig funds are very tight...
did anybody go see them on sunday?!
45 minutes of ridiculousness here:
see this is a band I've heard the name of a lot, but never listened too....
Im wondering if its the type of thing I would like...... I will have a listen
try this for starters:
first track by them i heard and was hooked. give it more than one listen
I quite like that, but it definately needs more than one listen, and to be in the mood for it i think, but good recomendation, thanks!
It sounds a bit like a film soundtrack
I think the new album is ok, the opening track is stunning but it hasn't done a lot for me after the first 20 minute movement.
Dead Flag Blues for me (I think it was the first GY!BE tune I heard anyway)
I think the last couple of movements of Worried Fire are beautiful. It's my album of the year.
i may change my name to fakeplasticgybe
Fell asleep with this on the headphones
