God

does nothing exist? no. of course not. stuff exists. therefore, there is no nothing. anywhere, anytime. something cannot come out of nothing - so therefore there has always been some thing. believing in nothing is silly.

BELIEVE IN EXISTENCE BROTHERS! IT'S HERE TO STAY!

i think hediieger says it?!

i could try and cobble one together, but i wouldn't like to put you through anything that dull and unconvincing :(

frege think existence is a second level predicate: a properties of properties. this is why the ontological argument for god does not go through.

yes but so is that ^^

the point i was trying to make is that things to do have existence. the perceiver has it. unsure of 'predicate' tho.

In that case, does nothing matter?

Technically speaking, no

i think...
nothing matters is a weird statement.

by matters, do you mean, is composed of matter?

i dunno, can it be perceived?

tho of course being very far away is not a sufficient condition for something not existing.

like i said, the previous post was not a view of mine.

Hegel is God! :D :D :D Anyone bothered to read his Logics or Phenomenology or...??? Maybe then this might be a bit clearer...

We don't know, because it's never been perceived. But by defintion, it's there.

I don't know what it means really, the mushroom (aka Jesus Christ) told it to me years ago i've been trying to decipher it ever since

i mean on the face of it, nothing=0 and matter=1, so if nothing matters then 0=1, and only God can be simultaneously 0 and 1... so i dunno about this jesus dude - he was only and always 0.588

but 'matters' has a curious double meaning, 'consists of matter' and 'is important'

and then there's the question of 'is nothing a thing?', some might say yes, Sartre gave this example: you go to a crowded cafe looking for your friend Pierre, and Pierre isnt there, the nothingness of Pierre's abscenece is far more obvious and apparent to you than the concrete prescence of all the other people in the cafe, hence nothingness is concrete too

nothing is important has another double meaning...

does that mean that no thing is important? i.e. the universe is pointless (kind of don't need a god then?) or that 'nothing' is important, like sartre was saying????

0 is blatantly important.
