God Bless Travellers

Playing with stereotypes, as there seems to be the 'travellers are spawn of satan' camp, as well as the 'downtrodden relics of our hunter gathering past' group on these threads.

Nah not really, there is a middle ground you know! :)

The Fosse Way is not like Bristol inner city...I know both.

Good Urban Greenheads can throw TPOs about and get stuff stopped pronto in Brizzle...especially if people are "employed" to do the work..."I still get paid. Don't give a fuck if I work or not."....the land alongside the Fosse Way is very intensely "managed" both agriculturally & industrially. The landscape is in constant flux both seasonally and through greater periods of time.

Appreciate what you mean about things being easier/different in an urban setting, but don't understand your point about the Fosse way & landscape in constant flux, unless you meant to add 'therefore a travellers (sic) site won't make much difference'..

ok did you see my edit BTW? :)

Mmm well the services won't dare go in the camp, I'm not sure that means things are working does it? :hmm:

They might yeh, hopefully they can take the pressure off the local schools then. :)

If it works for them, that's fine imo. In terms of pressure on the local schools - the LA's at fault then, for not making sufficient provision.

e2a BTW I think this is the BIGGEST problem people have with gypsies and travellers the fact they stay in one place and use all local services but don't (from what we hear anyway) pay taxes.

No, I hadn't seen your edit, cheers for pointing it out.

Well, they clearly don't use all the local services, do they? I'm a bit bemused as to how people would know if they pay council tax and the like or not tbh.

aha, noble keyboard warrior sans irony chip.....

you'll be telling me next you just read it at total face value...

...have a look at #1.... it's where the thread started, so, even for you, may have a smidgin of relevance to this thread, perhaps......

All you had to do was say, 'no, the one in the OP'.

Yes, this action will put some pressure on the local schools. We don't know how much pressure because we don't know how many kids there are or how many local schools; or for how long.

... exactly...

If I misunderstood what you meant about LAs, then sorry. I'm not their greatest admirer, but did read it as what I thought was unfair criticism...

I saw the sun headline

GYPSY HELL FOR MINISTER TESSA

Surely that contravines the race relations act?

Personally I hope they shit in her (mafia funded) garden.

.... my question as well... if this group are travellers who are just passing through, then why do they need a septic tank, concrete pathways, lay in electric & water, pull down hedges etc etc....

Not to worry, if it's pikey-built then it'll all fall apart rapidly.

.. & keen to point out that it'll take 8 years to go through the legal process to eviction, so not 'travelling' any time soon then... :hmm:

Unfortunately any "contribution" they make to the local economy won't go any way towards defraying the Legal costs of dealing with their illegal build. As the end of the process nears, no doubt they'll simply disappear so that they can't be found when they're held liable.

The only positive is that at least process servers will have a fixed abode to deliver ASBOS to.
