Go on then, how many books do you have?

So, how many books do you have

I don't THINK I've got more than 250 now :hmm:

I gave five huge (garden refuse type) bags full of books to a Charity shop when I moved a couple of years ago.

I find it difficult to resist buying them (mostly Charity shop or bargain bookshop) but I try to pass most of them on when I have read them nowadays.

Not sure exactly - too many to waste time counting them, that's for sure.

About 1200 probably more. They're everywhere

edit: I thought I had a lot more, I guess some of them take up more space than I realised. I just counted shelves and average number plus a few piles.

At last count, I had around 3500 paperbacks and hardbacks. They're almost lkie furniture, although i've read them all.

Not a huge number, maybe a couple of hundred at most. I'm not a big hoarder of them, and they've tended to get given away or left behind when I've moved.

50 odd, if that. I've lost/given away hundreds of the buggers before now though, but then again a fair chunk of the books I've ever 'owned' have been either given to me or lent and never returned :o

Ah well, possessions are only really fun when they're constantly on the move. You take stuff for granted if you're certain you'll have it forever.

I'm fairly sure a large number of my books were burnt at one point. Deliberately. That really upsets me :(

I once left a Dennis Wheatly book at my brothers house- it had an evil satanic goat cover.

His housemate, a jeebus army freak burned it:mad:

In recompense I recieved a custom made cool jacket and two pairs of new jeans.

Fucking book-burning Nazis

I chose the "less than a thousand" coz I really hope it is less that a thousand.

I made a library out of a spare room upstairs. It didn't hold them all, but most.

After a couple of years, I noticed one of our main structure beams had splintered. I moved the books downstairs to a smaller room, but now even more are in boxes.

Last week, my daughter came by to borrow the Dune series - I pointed her to the pile of boxes and smiled.

Re: alphabetical.

Never tried this but i did try and theme them once. Then I discovered the easy art of book organising: colour. Takes hardly anytime, looks groovy and I have a visual memory so I always know which shelf to look on  Amazing how many books come in orange.

1,000 or so i guess
