Or, you could decide based on whether or not you like their music.

I don't think i needed to be told that, mr humour bypass!

Oh come on, I'm not listening to them. They have to be shit don't they?

Update: I just listened to a few seconds on their myspace. Heard them before. I was right, you can AAAALLLWAAAAYS judge a band by it's name and surrounding hype. :p

I'm not really able to comment on Joe Strummer's phrasing but James' does have a kind of singular way of fitting his lyrics into the songs. He gets too many words in where you wouldn't expect and holds back where you'd think he'd ramp it up, if that makes any sense at all! It's quite strange.

It's My Own Cheating Heart is exactly how this works

I quite like the idea of them being able to really turn it up, but not doing it just yet.

:D

I saw them, thought they were shit.Listened to the songs they had on they MySpace at the time didn't enamour me to them either. Listening to Daddy's Gone right now, it appears my initial assessments were incorrect.

Daddy's Gone makes me think of King Creosote. Haven't heard anything else they've done though.

I'm listening to their album on the car and can't make up my mind if I think they're really good or really crap.

I can't really explain it I think I like their stuff but then not. I think maybe it's because I really don't like the last track, the Beethoven thing, and another Ice cream van? but then really like others.

The lyrics to Daddy's gone are beautiful. I think, as a band, they convey despair brilliantly.

I'm trying to ignore the Radio 1 obsession with them and I'm enjoying the album on the basis of it been very good lyrically and musically.

Not sure about 'stabbed' though.

I really want to go see them at the Scala but have no-one to go with so that kinda rules that out :hmm:

Thought they were good on Jools.

Not aware of any other band ever having the word "keck-a-boot" in a pop song, either. So they win. And the band name is boss.

They have a couple of good songs, other than that they are pish. Geraldine and Daddys Gone are decent songs.

I thought they were dire on Jools. I liked the first album, but they've gone right down hill. A fourth-rate JAMC tribute now.

Noticed that the broadsheets are wittering about this lot, Phil Spector meets the Clash yadda yadda yadda. I've never knowingly heard anything by them. Am I missing out?

Shite of course.
The Clash are shite anyway and Phil Spector is overrated.

I have a few words of praise for Glasvegas. They aren't as boring as Coldplay. Unfortunately that's about the most complimentary I can be without lying.
