Are we ever going to get round to setting up an urban75 stall? It would work - we could have free drugs info leaflets, get loads of copies of every party's manifestos etc. And I can cook.

Sell them by auction. 100,000 Item multiple item auction. Ebay could handle that, as could a well set up webserver. Takings >£100 per ticket go to charity. Sorted.

This is similar to how 3G licenses were awarded - and they were done like this because it would overall cost the most amount of money...not keen on that.

yeah but its hard working gasto - you have to tear yourself away from other far more interesting things

The big problem with a lottery is that most people go in large-ish groups, and it would spoil a lot of peoples' enjoyment of the festival if only half the group got lucky.

This year the whole load of us (around 20 in all) all stayed up and kept dialling and mouse-clicking at 3 peoples houses with a variety of land-lines, mobiles and PCs and we ALL got our tickets by morning. As each person got theirs they kept dialling for the others in the group that hadn't got through yet, to increase everyone's chances.

I think: leave it alone except to increase the capacity of phone lines and web servers. I don't believe this figure of 2 million people for a second. Given our "sample" of 20, if there were that many people trying all night, then we would have been incredibly lucky to all get tickets by 7am wouldn;t we?

Giles..
