Without getting into a dreary discussion about its corporateness (I don't think that's a word but it'll do), it's still an incredible (and I hate to use the word) vibe. I remember just sitting by the jazz stage watching people go by, listening to crackin tunes, and everyone was just sooo happy...I just had a big daft grin on me face all the time, lifted by the collective happiness

It doesn't make sunday morning any easier though as Magic Sam, Mr and Madamv still have to get tickets. *Has everything crossed*.
 
I really don't know...I have registered and have to decide if I want to try for a ticket. I have the cash but also a lot of other things to spend it on and will also be going to a few other festivals....I need to make up my mind ...but how ????

It has a purpose though, and a brilliant one at that, so it shouldn't be too hard to accomplish

NOOO!! it will not happen! I will instead just drink in the afternoon (:D think on) and crash by early evening, thus ensuring a reasonably clear head for the Sunday

WBC at glastonbury is not a cushy as you think.
i went as a team leader and fucking hated it.

WBC duh :p pop along to Clapham, they're just off the high street IIRC. I wouldn't work on the bar myself. Heard the stories from the people who have done it and seen how knackered and pissed off they look!

edit to add: I was thinking foamy when I typed that :D

Through my trade union, think it's probably too late now. They have sent the confirmation of numbers needed this week.

Working 12 hours a day in baking hot sunshine watching everyone else have fun, then when you're not working you're too knackered to have fun. Not that you can have fun anyway as there's another 12 hour shift tomorrow :D

Mine's a pint, sparklefish and hurry up :mad:
 
I doubt I'll be going now actually for the following :(

  • UK/French TEK
  • G8 Protests
  • Secret Garden Party
  • I dont have a debit card

All sort of counts against me :(

glastonbury was shit to work at as i had to team lead a bunch of stoners who wanted to get in free and not turn up to the shift which meant the rest of us had to hide the fact we were 3 men down, the hours were 8 hours shifts instead of 6 as they couldnt take so many people. Also we had to walk all the way through the crowd of the pyramid stage to get from the staff compound to get to the bar we worked at. we couldnt see anything from the bar we were working at. you didnt have much chance to see the rest of the festival (unless you didnt want to take advantage of the free meals).

WBC at other festivals is well worth it though.

and i would like to go to Glastonbury again when i have the money and dont have to work.

I'm gonna check you out on ugly mug thread so I know when to accidentally spill a pint. :p

Czech Tek is better apparently :D

Meh, skip the G8 protests its largely full of bourgeois kids wearing nike trainers and sticking it to the man. Honestly once you've been to one you have been to them all.

Secret Garden Party looks ace

I think in reality you usually end up working longer to make up for stoner workers who don't turn up ;)

it isnt on to work for a charity which you are supposedly involved with, do one shift then fuck off for the rest of the festie though.


and you have to work straight through whilst you watch people take 20 cigarrette breaks during the shift :mad: (make sure you smoke when you go to glastonbury to get your equal break time rights!)

Well charity or not it is simply a cnuts trick. Fair enough if you fall ill or something but to skip a shift knowing others will have to make up for your short fall is a twat's trick. Although I'm sure it wouldn't take much to allure me away from the stall for crippled orphans :(

Coupla people mentioned not having debit cards. If you apply by phone you can pay by cheque or postal order.

Mates and rigs are going to French, G8 we are part of RAF, I will try but who knows what will happen on the day :(
