Glastonbury Musical highlight

Was that you throwing it? :D
yes that was me and larry had a go at me as my job is to look mean and not to hand out ciggies. it was an amazing sight to see about 12,000 people giving clenched fist salutes during mao

Didn't see too much due to work and investigating the circus area and other bits alongside general chilling with wiskers, derv and co.

However, I really enjoyed the Rosinators on Thursday in the controlarms marquee along with a couple of dozen other people. Primal Scream were not as good as the previous time I saw them and on reflection, no, they weren't trying too hard and had something of an attitude problem. The Undertones most enjoyable on Friday even without Feargal. Way Out West were great, though not quite translating onto the live stage. Alabama 3 and The Levellers in Jazz World were really good too.

Highlight for me (and I know some people will  at this) was The Beautiful South on Sunday night in the acoustic tent. A band you don't realise how many songs of theirs you know until you find yourself singing along with thousands of other people. A Little Time and Don't Marry Her were awesome :) I'm still hearing 'And the sun may shine down bright on San francisco Bay' a couple of days later.

The keyboard genius at Sweeny Todd's in Lost Vagueness entertaining us with 'Hero' at 3am on Monday morning was great for sheer randomness :D

prolly iration steppas.
dub dadda i always like, & the bug was pretty good too.
didn't actually see that much else. well, nothing to write home about, anyway.
i heard the broken family band were good, but welly's were more important at that stage.

Venue was so pretty - but no booze available and smoking wasn't allowed which made it weirdly odd and the like.

there was much booze available.

what do you think the 'Special Punches' were? and the Special and Double Special coffees?

we of the PROD collective are also happy to announce that Friday's PROD was so mental we broke the dancefloor of the speigeltent and it was closed for hours by Health & Safety as a result (the upshot being that Ouchmonkey and I did a 'Lovely Morning' jazz and gospel and country set to 3 barstaff, 2 cleaners and a structural engineer.

Ok. My fault for being ignorant and trashed then  Enjoyed myself a great great deal and so did lots of others it seems, must have been some heavy dancing going on!

I do remember a fire steward going up to Sparrow and asking her to put her cigarette out and then seeing the 'no smoking' signs dotted around.

I wish I saw Hayseed Dixie now....

White Stripes : fantastic, absolutely brilliant
Zutons: Im not a fan but have to say they where great (scouse solidarity and all that :p)
2 Many DJ's : wicked, they had the place rockin in no time
The Wailers : proper boss like
The Beat : what can I say?

All in all I saw many superb artists and had the best time i've had in a long time

Not to mention the fairy girl with hash cakes ;)

I saw more bands this year than i've ever done before and even went to the Pyramid stage twice, which is unheard of.

Hayseed Dixie....yeee haaaa :D What a fab banjo player...

And MIA, The Zutons, Alabama 3, Peatbog Faeries and Basement Jaxx.

Was thinking it was funny how two of my favourite bands of the weekend both played The ace of spades :D

So many Glasto threads............. :D

I loved the Stereo MC's on Friday night!! Really great set and the first time I have ever seen them.

Sunday with Brian Wilson was ace (despite the poor Pyramid sound) due to the sun ans singalong factors!!

Good Vibrations :D

cross I missed zap mama now - had every intention of going!

Broken Family Band were good, but Femi Kuti wins as his and the Positive Force's performance made the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end!! :D

I told you - that was the gravitational pull of his dancers' arses.

They are the hardest working ladies in showbiz

Absolutely astonishing - they were hypnotic. :)

BTW PieEye you stewarding at Womad? If so my lovely flatmate will be working with you.

Nobody's yet done full justice to Chas n Dave.. the acoustic tent was rammed, with a chant of "Chas n Dave" struck up for 10 minutes before they came on. The boys did a blistering set of classics to the ecstatic crowd. Definetly be looking out for future London dates.

Zap Mama was fantastic

Chas N Dave was the best laugh I've had in ages.. the whole crowd with their hands in the air shouting RABBIT RABBIT RABBIT

White Stripes
- didnt really know who they were before I went but was blown away. fan-bloody-tastic. those two are talented-as-fuck.

Koloko were alot of fun on the Jazz World stage. Didnt look how I expected - alot younger, but so so good. Latin upbeat New York funky stuff.

Saw the Go-Team - lead singers mic fucked up over first 4 songs. last 2 without any vocals at all! We were all shouting at her & the sound desk to sort it out. they didnt, and had to stop for ages, so I left. rubbish. Basement Jaxx were pretty good. Royksopp were good for thier upbeat versions of Poor Leno etc. the slower others could have been a bloody cd for all I know. Kasabian were slightly dissapointing, but it was rather wet on the other stage.

I loved PROD, mainly cos of the bizarreness of all the girls having no idea whatsoever about the whole thing and were seeminly waiting for the rugby club disco to start :D and all the scared faces to the anthem and fists in the air :D:D:D

I also thoroughly enjoyed the Beautiful South

I also enjoyed the Peatbog faeries, but I knew I would, and Jools Holland, thought Tori Amos was shite, but I enjoyed it all really! I always do

just to add, I take that back, I didn't enjoy Rory fucking Mcleod - how many animals did he murder in his set?

We were thoroughly trashed on mushrooms and couldn't get away :D

Yes, he was disappointing -- you won't believe it, but he's normally a lot better, if a bit of an acquired taste anyway.

I like him usually, but couldn't get into him this time.

Wish I'd made it to Basement Jaxx ... and Brian Wilson .... and New Order ... :(

Oh well, plenty else I did see! :)

The Magic Numbers were fantastic, much hyped at the moment but I try and ignore hype as much as possible, it can ruin a good band. I also really enjoyed The Beats set, especially their tribute to Joe Strummer . Casetteboy was fucking hilarious!! :D anyone going to the glade festival- you must see cassetteboy!
Notible mentions- the bug, chris clark, the magic number (as opposed to number-s, these guys were excellant, kind of 30s swing/jazz, perfect 5 in the morning music with a cup of tea and a spliff), Brian Wilson, dj surgeon, yoti something or other on the g-stage...there was just too much good music!

i'd agree with Alabama 3 being very good. i also enjoyed brian wilson, Roy ayres and bassment jaxx.

did anyone have the unpleasant experience of seeing primal scream. they were fecking awful. a real disapointment (not that i was expecting much more but you would have thought they could have tried a bit harder).

Primal scream went off !!! really depends if your a fan at all i guess, and it didnt halp that they were dragged off.... almost had a ian brown/mani encore at IB performance tho they werent aloud to due to the curfew ..... 50 000 plus crowd was not happy...)

I had the Proclaimers forced upon me at one stage, not good :(

Bob, dunno about PieEye but I'm stewarding Womad for Oxfam :)
