Glastonbury festival lineup 2009

Thats a surprise, Penguin Cafe Orchestra are in the acoustic tent on Sunday. I really love Signs of life and some of their live stuff. Perfect for a sunday afternoon.

it's far from the full PCO though, Simon Jeffes is sadly long dead and some of the other key players aren't involved

I found the big 90's bands shit last year massive attack was the most and I liked them back in the day, and way prefered the likes of Dizzie Rascal, Ultramagnetic mc's and stuff that was on in the smaller fields but I'm not a fan of big stadium gigs and more of a raver and I could of done without Pete Dohcuntey, his fans actually looked pissed off! but had to sit though him as the billing was running late.. so expect to see me dancing about as much as poss again this year

was an awful shame, i saw them not long before Jeffes passed and there was an air of forebodiing about the whole thing

I'm slightly worried about this special guest slot at the Pyramid on Friday now. There was a story on the NME site yesterday that the cretins that won Britain's Got Talent have confirmed they are playing a festival this summer. The competiton hadn't been decided at the time of the lineup going to print. You don't think...

Everyone on Efests seems to think the Pyramid guests will be N*E*R*D. I think the Beeb had them playing on Friday on the Pyramid when the line up came out.

8-9pm slot isn't it? Orbital no chance, for that and other reasons.

e2a: Orbital in 2004... remember that? OMG, some epic moments.

Certainly was epic...
Was that the same year as the almighty purple skied thunderstorm, floodage and floaters? They all merge into one great colourful memory tbh.

:D

That sounds more like 2005. Orbital, doing their first ever last ever gig, was 2004 :)

A bit dissappointed that Broken Family Band seem to be opening Other stage on the Saturday , 11 AM , I would have thought they deserved better billing :

The last time I saw them at Glasto (2005?) I think they were first act on Avalon on the Saturday so I guess it's a step up from there. Would prefer to see them on a smaller stage to be honest though.

I think I saw them that year too , I remember struggling from the other side of the site in wellies through thick mud , or was that 2006 ? anyway I agree about the smaller stage . I`m not so sure if opening Other stage would be considered better for exposure than higher up the bill in smaller stage.Whatever , I think they deserve to be seen by more people .

The BFB were on in the Avalon in the afternoon in 2007, from what I remember it was an enjoyable gig out of the rain. I saw them at the Scala last month and thier sound has got a lot rockier, so they can probably pull it off on a bigger stage. I'd like to see them on a smaller stage though as I'm sure a lot of the banter with the crowd will get lost.

Defo 2005 I saw them (there was no Glasto in 2006). One of their mates proposed to his girlfriend during the gig. Went straight from there to the Levellers in Jazzworld in a state of advanced fungal enlightenment. :D

Not that I am going... but just looked at the line-up and seen loads of things I would like to have seen.

Still -not going is a small price to pay for not spending 4 days soaked to the skin and covered in mud.

Regarding that BFB discussion further up. I just got an email from them saying

We’re playing a couple of times at Glastonbury this weekend, Saturday to be precise. You can catch us on The Other Stage at 11am as well as the Dirty Boots Stage (betwixt the Pyramid and t’Other) at around 5pm. Come and say hello/throw stuff. WE CAN TAKE IT.

Is this Dirty Boots Stage new?

I would go and see them at that 5pm gig. But I think at that point on Saturday I am planning to be taking a flask of weak lemon drink to the cabaret tent for Kevin Eldon.
