Glastonbury festival lineup 2009

not only did I see that, but Pie Face and I are definitely going. It's mere yards from where we're camped too :p

I was wondering about Cat Empire too. They were great on Avalon in 07 even though we had to miss Arcade Fire for them.

I've tickets for them at Shep's Bush the weekend after so they're in the country.

What a coincidence, I saw them at Shep Bush Empire in 07, one of my most memorable gigs...

I noticed that the UK tour starts in July, hopefully they'll make an appearance... :)

Its a good lineup, Neil Young has made it for me frankly. However, I had convinced myself that Orbital and the Super Furries would be there, and I'm really disappointed that they're not

check out those other links i posted paulo - they're all quite good...

Just having a listen now... what a revelation.

e2a: Technicolor Dreams is great - lots of good melodies going on there. Agree with your sentiment about doing a set just of old stuff. Oddly, if they did that, they'd be deserving of a slot in Acoustic!

I dont know why... but Im wondering if either U2 or the Killers are the band who are the 'special guest band they cant reveal'

there was talk of Kanye west too a couple of weeks ago, alledgedly 'confirmed' in msinstream media ( so not just a rumour)but nowhere to be seen and no mention since

Alot of people on the festy forums are convinced it'll be the libertines. But then again, Kerrang! has said they know who it is, so that doesn't quite fit.

If the Kerrang! thing isn't a red herring, then Metallica would be a possible.

My own totally uninformed wild (and perhaps optimistic!) guess is Radiohead.

If it is the Libertines or any other Doherty incarnation, I'll be quite underwhelmed.

hmmmm Radiohead would be a definite hit I think, several people have recounted their glasto/radiohead experience to me over the years

Metallica would be bloody incredible but Id be sad if they didnt headline... id LOVE to see them.
Ive seen the killers but the killers at Glasto now would be very very special, as would snow patrol

Killers have played twice now... 2005 & 2007. The latter was sadly a shambles for half the field as there was big cock up with the sound. :(

Snow Patrol have a few utter gems of tunes, but I wonder how well they'd do, playing a big outdoor gig? Still, hearing "Run" in a sunset slot ... I'd probably go to tears within the first four bars. :D

I saw them in a packed 02 dome and thats a vast venue... and was thinking "They would blow glasto away"

It was incredibly moving, incredibly well done and its rare I come away thinking a band have presented something live which has far far surpassed things Ive seen before . I was in floods during "You could be Happy" completely sobbing

Im tempted to try and get a ticket for IOW and go on my own to be honest... I just cant afford it and had already committed to Glasto ( which I dont regret but YUNNOOOOO):hmm:

I can't see it being anyone huge, I've read a few places that it'll be Klaxons as they have a gig in Coventry and one supporting Blur right around the Glastonbury date. Who knows, but I'm not getting excited for anything major. I hope to fuck its neither U2, Metallalica, Snow Patrol, Killers or the Libs though

Ah yeah, but O2... indoors, to a committed crowd... makes a massive difference.

Doves are one of my favourite bands of all time, and they pretty much died on their arses at the Pyramid in 2005. But saw them again the other week at Brixton, and they were, as I expected, awesome.

And now, having said all that, I'm just going to check Snow Patrol's 2004 Glasto performance on YouTube, which I missed...

Yeah, I don't think it'll be Orbital anyway, they're just on my wish list. In truth, I can see it being someone like the Manics. Fair play, the rumour mill were shit this year. What happened to Sonic Youth?

Im sure it does but I still thought "This is too big a performance for here"
I think between 2004- now what> 5 years they will have learned an awful lot and perhaps completely outgrown playing mediocre venues and need the buzz of festivals again. I feel a kind of pull to see them play a festival as a result if the feeling I got when I saw them in March now, hence me hankering after IOW... :( I really cant afford it NNNGGGHHHH
