Oh my god what's happening to me, reading this thread has made me want to go to a festival!!!! Oh blimey.

Whats wrong with you that this 'want' never showed up before?? :p :D

Plenty of one day or cheap/free ones going on this summer. Check my 'Festival Season 2006 -- some dates and details' thread (sticky in Music Forum)

Yer'll be a hippy in no time ... :p

The want got repressed in a rejection of past hippy tendencies. Except actually thinking about it I think I just wanna go and hang out in cornwall. Hmmm....

glastonbury is wicked

i went to glastonbury all of my childhood (age 0->). and it was fun. but it does limit you as a parent (esp as then i was left in a tent on my own and now you wouldnt even entertain the idea for a moment).

i really started to appreciate the festival when i was about 5. i have solid memories from then, before that its all a bit of a blur. tbh i could've been in any field anywhere.

what interests kids and adults differs greatly - and you will get mighty fed up of watching madge enjoy hours in the kids field (lovely as it is) playing in a sandpit that could be anywhere not enjoying what you see to be the rest of the festival.

you'll also have to fall in with the rest of the festyival with regards to eating at certain times and washing at certain times, whereas as an adult you can eat in the middle of the night and avoid the queues.

however the family field is great and i still camp there.

i'd do glasto as an adult and something like womad or larmer tree with kids. smaller, friendlier, less frenetic, more fun.
yeah man cant beat glastonbury

I've gone to the last 3 Glastos with a big gang of mates including my friends daughter (8 when she first went, 11 now) and she has always loved it.

I think its good if there are a lot of people that can share looking after the kid(s).

And make sure they know some mobile numbers etc in case they get lost
