Glastonbury 2009

Blur were also in the frame for this year but couldn't do it becuase of Albarn's mum (apparently)!

Maybe they'll do it next year ...? Not a big fan myself but it beats coldplay!!!

I do know it's a bit of a pisser the way the ticket system changes every year, but if you were feeling generous (and I normally am when it comes to Glastonbury), it does show that they are doing their best to react to changes and problems and issues.

Ahh, I know Alex mentioned it in his autobiography. Damon Albarn's doing that opera thing atm, though, isn't he?

But presumably his part is over - he's not actually IN it, not sure if he plays. But that'll be running its course soon presumably.

Wonder if Graham will be back in?

That's the way I look at it, too. It looks like they've listened to people's criticisms and are trying to sort things out. I hope this next one goes off as well as the last.

I'd hope so. The one time I saw them minus Graham was far and away the worst Blur gig I've ever seen. Not sure if they're ideal Glastonbury headline material, tbh, much as I like them. I saw them headline one of the muddy ones once and it wasn't all that good.

I think it's not a bad idea, it's just a slight pain in the arse for me personally in that I'm gonna have to find £50 from somewhere at a time when I'm more than likely gonna be skint.

£165 to £170 + travel + spending money + 'prescription' money = £300.

FUCK THAT!

Go to a European festival instead

Actually, since one of my pet gripes is festivals selling tickets for next year before I've finished with this year's, Glastonbury has just gone right down in my estimation again, having had a brief resurgence of affection :D

There's no pleasing some people :p

EXIT looks like tremendous value... Not sure about the rest though, by the time you add it all up.

Exit looks very commercial however. I really want to go to Sonar! Plus there's the flying thing :(

Problem with EU festivals is that they just don't really do the mental thing quite like the British.

We really know how to get fucked up and go mad in a unique way that the rest of Europe just doesn't do unless you go to a free party.

Get a job and save for a few weeks.

hehe

I have a theory that the worst place a festival could be held is France. Far too up their own arses to lose all self diginity for a few days.

Yep... On a similar tip... For me part of going on holiday abroad is getting away from the British, but at a good home festival we're my favourite nationality, even en-masse pissed - it's one hell of a transformation.

They are often way better value, and with better line ups, and none of that tired old student hippy bollocks.

and with police that make ours look like teddy bears in a lot of places!!

There's one in Brazill I'd like to go to mind. And some of us like the happy hippy stuff, not harming me anyway. :):)
