Glastonbury 2009 Roll Call

Me and the missus - already putting together a list of stuff to take :D. We normally take our small camper but this year we've borrowed a 32 foot RV which I'm shitting it about having to drive. Oh and it's LHD. :)

So it's all round yours for drinkies then is it?!?! Lets face it, there will be plenty of room! :D :D

From the ThisisSomerset story linked to above :

Licence holder Melvin Benn has applied to create or move eight gates around and inside the site, most of them to improve access for those working at the festival, from crew to performers, and ease the pressure on gates used by fans.
The plans include upgrading pedestrian gate B, near Coghill Lane, to add lanes for those attending to come and go, and extra space for staff camping.

Interesting for those of us who'll be working .... paolo keep an eye on things for GlastoEarth!

That's good news about upgrades to PGB. I got stuck in a very long queue there last year, took a number of hours to get to the gate.

Me too, and I got there early! LMHF wasnt' far behind me either, it took her longer still, around 3 hours I think.

Blimey. In my very short career I've waited at PGC for about 10 minutes twice (Thursday 2004 & 5), and then at PGA (Wednesday 2007) just strolled straight in.... both early afternoon.

edit: ah, if you mean early last year... one problem was there was a delay in gates opening generally. No idea why, but I was wandering around on site at about 9-10ish, thinking - WHERE IS EVERYONE?

I was in the queue at Gate D last year before 8am on the Wednesday. The gate didn't open until at least 8:30 due to BR style "technical difficulties" but once it did things got moving very quickly.

Not quite sure what happened last year. I was queueing at the east carpark entrance just after 7am on the Wednesday, just before 8am they started letting cars into the carpark. We then paused at the ticket inspection point just inside the field for ages, eventually a 4x4 came storming across site to get things moving again.

Got to PGB and an almighty queue had already formed. Must've taken about three hours to get in. Thankfully lots of other people must've been delayed as well, lots of decent camping spaces still available.

That was my first time ever through PGB, it's normally been PGC. Did they fill up the fields in a different order last year? Other years I've arrived maybe 8:30 or so, driven straight in, and walked straight through PGC with no queue. Also parked near to PGC.

I agree. the queue was about 15 people wide and snaked all the way back from the car park :(
People couldnt get back to the festival if they left once getting in because there were so many people queueing. it really was chaotic and exhausting.
Its the only aspect of it which made me think twice about going this year to be honest so I hope it improves

blimey, this is turning into a family outing. Brother belboid booking and coming down with us too now

I think some of my family might be coming along too, a cousin and an aunty - this is where the aunty finds out what I'm really like  :D
