Glasgow Rangers

A social faux pas? No not at all. I like the "Only idiots believe that there are offensive terms for protestants" though, very good.

'Hun' is not one of them, why dont you list them for me, so us uneducated lanarkshire types can learn from our sophisticated Glasgow cousins.

Who says i'm either educated or a Glaswegian? Assumptions do you no favours....

Ah starfish was the educated Glaswegian.

But you are avoiding the question, what are the insulting terms for a protestant used in the west of scotland?

I thought someone standing in a street sceaming about 'hun scum' would have been being 'bigoted'. Reading urban informs me otherwise.

You have no question, you already have your own answer.

I have no idea what insulting terms for protestants in the West of Scotland are.. I'm not a religious bigot.. Go join a West of Scotland bigots forum and ask them. I'm sure you'll find one if you GOOGLE...

explain please, you sound like you are avoiding the question.

No, just not interested in a smart arse.

As to the point, historically, in the Scottish football context, given it referred to both Celtic and Rangers fans then no it was not a bigotted reference. However, it has certainly taken on a bigotted connotation in the recent past. When i've used it, it has not been in reference to 'protestants', but to those lovable chaps and chappesses the Rangers fans. However the context you give, without knowing the context and accuracy of yor claim then it would be difficult to say, but the term 'hun scum' wouldn't be a term of endearment and may well be intended as bigotted and seen as such by the person it is aimed at.
