Glasgow: Pure, Dead Brilliant

so you didn't go to Pure then as the thread title suggests... thought it had moved across from edinburgh or something:confused:

(((fs brain)))

Ah the catty! Probably about time I visited again, it's been a good couple of months since I was last there (blah blah not as good as it used to be blah :p)

More bizarre than offensive, took the hump at being told to desist from constantly pitching-up irrelevant stuff. or am I thinking of someone else?

The first time I went to Glasgow I ended up on the piss with some tramp. I'd never met a tramp before. When I told him it was his turn to buy a round (I'd brought 2 or 3 by this stage) he turned nasty and threatened to give me a "leathering". He ended up getting thrown out by some bouncers. It was also the first place I'd seen anyone shoot up smack before.

The land of my roots indeed.  :D

however it is shit, and breaks down most times, and even when it doesn't it takes 9 hours and is always roasting and airless;
still its good for when you aint even got the £25 plus price for getting to and from airport

glad you enjoyed your time up here, the art school and variety are cool, as is mother india's

next time you should time it for when mungo's are playing, their system's immense now

I'm a Glasgow native, coming home. Not sure I like the idea of good weather though, sounds scary and weird...

Remember who owns that - Fucking Brian Soutar.

Mmmm! Yup, especially good when they overrun their festival set by several hours & you are camped right beside them. My head was dinging for most of the next day! :D

Today's more like proper Glasgow weather, looks like it's going to piss down any minute. But on Friday I was out and about in a t-shirt. In April. In Glasgow.

Something's no right!

I also love Glasgow, although I don't visit very often these days. My mother comes from there and, apparently, my sister was conceived in the botanical gardens :D

Really? That's very cool indeed - the Kibble greenhouse has just been redone and is looking very lovely. I took arty pictures of waxy leaves when I was there  They're very attractive those structures - there's a massive one on Glasgow Green called the People's Palace, which makes me laugh for some reason. Maybe it's a touch mock epic?? :D

Actually, we got pissed in a pub in an old carpet factory there - crazy building - really decorative brickwork outside.

I'm just down the road from Glasgow. Great place. Although like everywhere else, is often ruined by neds.

Been out in Glasgow loads of times. Always a great night.

I LOVE The Arches.

Good to see someone having good time in Glasgow.
I'm from there but been down here a while.
I've been up enjoying myself a bit more lately but I've had a couple of disasters.

1) A train that journey that took 20 hrs london to glasgow.
2) Got thrown out of the Arches (dEath Disco) due random drug searches in the club. Lesson learned. Its shuts at 3am so I can consume enough before going in.
3) After said night out had to walk a mile in a Blizard. Not so keen on winter weather.
4) Nights bus services are infrequent. Watching the bus diappear with 1 1/2 hour wait not good.

Good points this Year

Seeing my pals.
Chilling out at home.
Death Disco at the Arches
Complaining about every late virgin train means I've had free travel to Glasgow this year.

Off to plan my next trip.

HA. Thats so funny. The very same thing happened to me. Went to the toilet at around 3am (was open til 4 that night). Walked out the cubicle and there were two plain clothed security waiting for me. Then another 3 of them came in and the 5 of them walked me down to the first aid room. They said I had been selected for a random drug search and that I didn't need to take part, If I didn't I'd need to leave and be banned for 6 months. So I left. The same thing also happened to my mate that night but he wasn't offered the chance to leave. They searched him and handed him over to the police.

This happened 2 weeks ago, the weekend after a clubber died from taking E at The Arches so I think they are cracking down on it.

Fair enough. It'd be a tragedy if it was shut down.

yeah, i was just talking to a mate who was there on sat night (last night) and said coming out the place afterwards there were loads of cops with snifferdogs waiting for them; to be honest i could see attendance at nights dropping quite a bit if they keep cracking down hard

one of the reasons we didn't go out when I was up there (just after the death) was that the clubs would be swarming with police and dogs. It's not so much the drugs themselves, just the way that can really spoil the atmosphere on the night...

It's fair enough I think. For such a institution of Scottish clubbing.

Yes it's hypocritical saying It'd be a shame if it got a bad rep for drugs, while at the same time I wouldn't go there straight.:)
