At the present the Tories have one seat in Scotland. After this result it hardly looks like they will gain much more, if any, at the next general election.
I think Scotland has 76 MPs? The Tories would need a good percentage of them to gain power, and they won't.
The Tories don't need to win a good percentage of the 76 MP's - it will be sufficient for their purposes that New Labour are denied them, probably by the SNP.
Ironically the reason the SNP are more than capable of eclipsing New Labour across Scotland is primarily because it now has a greater appeal on a host of issues in Labour's former constituency.
