Forget all that World Cup bollocks, the real football season starts here.

Celtic's season officially kicks off today with an away tie against Alashkert of Armenia in the *cough* First qualifying round of the Champions League.

Will Celtic reach the group stages of the Champions League for the third year in a row? What's going to happen in the SPL this season now that Slippy G. is in charge of the bibs and cones over at Castle Greyskull? Does 7UP become After Eights?

Post your random speculation here whilst I go try and find a live feed for the game . . .

    Good solid 3-0 away win.

Positive start from Lewis Morgan when he came on as a sub in the second half.

Should have paid attention to these qualifying rounds, would have been nice to follow the celts to armenia

Job done. The other mob had a few good chances before we took control.

Lincoln Red Imps is (thankfully) a very distant memory nowadays.

Whereas Progres Niederkorn is still fresh and vibrant in the memory bank - with a fair chance of getting upstaged by some other pub team in the coming weeks.

Happy to see this coming to pass (quote is from last year's thread and oh how we could have done with the cash Southampton got for Virgil)

Soft early goal, but a good second half performance with some cracking goals. A bit wary about next week's return leg.

Didnt see much of the game on wednesday. Was it bad? Can we get a result over there?

Saw most of todays game. We were pretty awful tbh. I know players were rested ahead of Athens but we need to go to Gorgie & boss those Embra twats.

Woeful. The team have been going backwards for a year now.

Being a Hearts fan is like being a mediocre golfer. It is that perfectly struck shot every now and then, that powers the faith.

Today was being on the green 3" from the hole, after your tee shot. :)

(Of course, next week we will lose 17 - 0 to Hamilton. :))

I think it's going to be a rollercoaster of a season. If Celtic really want 10 in a row, it may be a blessing in disguise. They need a rocket up their arse to tackle any complacency and if they have a spare couple of rockets, they should attach them to Boyata and his agent and shoot them into space.

A team they should have beat . . . A board that needs to take the blame.

And players on the pitch. They made the mistakes & we had more than enough opportunities. Also fuck them other 2.

Some of the players aren't good enough for the footballing style Rodgers wants to play. (And I know he scored tonight but I wince every time Sinclair gets the ball.) The board hasn't backed him properly and they have to shoulder the blame for tonight.

Looks like a semi decent group but surprised the 2 Red Bull teams are allowed on the same group. Could allow for some shenanigans going on :hmm:

Dembelle gone then for £19.7m or thereabouts.

He had to go, and he made an arse of himself with his social media comments to force the club's hand but I'm sick and tired of the vitriol that is spat out by some supporters on social media when a player leaves the club. Remember the good times, for fucks sake.

Football is just another job now.

The days when a player had loyalty to a team for a whole career are gone forever.

I remember as a lad, when barring injury, the same team turned out week after week, season after season in many cases.
