I do get em in every year - for my mum (none of the rest of us like any of that foul stuff ) - and a few litres worth of posh ice cream but as it happens, I'm always too stuffed from the dinner to care by the end of it anyway.

My mum used to buy Marron glace cherries at Christmas.

Just realised that ofcourse marron glace are actually candied chestnuts, not cherries at all...... .....but my mum did used to buy them as a christmas treat and I didn't fucking like them either, so the rest of that story still stands.
