Gitmo Prisoners have Habeas Corpus Rights.

By the way, I was not replying to the poster's membername, but to the post (see quote). If you are such a fervent post reader, you should notice that.

salaam.

Don't you think that I am old enough to decide to which causes, research, developments & charities I contribute?
A violin has nothing to do with any of that. Why are you so focused on that poor thing?

salaam.

Three reasons:

* it iritates you.

* if I can guilt you into giving more to charity that would be a good thing.

* it iritates you.

I keep reading this thread over and over and for the life of me, I can't see what this thread has to do with a violin or why it is constantly being referred to.

Please either get over it or go back to the other thread continue there.

Thank you kindly.

Now I'm laughing...

"Guilt"? What "guilt"??

It doesn't irritate me. It puzzles me why you focus so strangely on my violin, as if that poor thing holds the answer to all suffering in the world.
Hint: I don't need my violin to donate to whatever charity or whatever other useful thing I want to support.
I could play at a charity concert but believe me, there are better violinists in the world than I am. In fact, one of them has one of my other violins. She wouldn't like it if I asked it back telling her she should feel "guilty" to play on it.

(Please proceed, this is funny. Not the right place though. You are ruining this thread... and not even a little bit.)

salaam.

Yes, it is a secret that creeps into threads where YW jumps in to puzzle the innocent reader with it. Me not in the least.

Typical example of the failure of US'ers to understand the true meaning and intend of democracy (past the Athenian experiment, that is).
They live in a quasi dictatorship - build on and underscored by Corporate Capitalism - and are brainwashed in believing they are "free".

salaam.

I'm not a 'USer', and as for the merits of your post, all I can say is, 'look who's talking':D

As he says, but nevertheless his posts show he is a fervent supporter of the USA.

salaam.
As far as I can work out his support for the US is situational, but he's always, always going to back Israel to the hilt.

I could be wrong, but while I can recall him being critical of the US during the Hurricane Katrina debacle, I don't recall him ever questioning Israel's actions/policies no matter how evil.

Hmm. I agree.

btw, the Supreme Court was never supposed to have the power it has now. It sits atop the other two, the president next and then the congress. Originally it was the other way around.

On the bright side though, the Supreme Court has provided the US with a rationale that lets it back away from Bush's odious toture policy, and the associated dishonour. For that alone any patriotic American should be very grateful. It lets you walk away from stuff that you hung Nazis and Japs for. You should be very very grateful for these thin excuses. Just walk away now and pretend it didn't happen. it's really the best thing that you can do at this point. History is not going to judge you well for this, but you can still walk away and make like good Germans who didn't know about what was going on in the camps. The Supreme Court has done you all a big favour here, don't blow it please.

Great save!:D

'Great save' ?

Guess I hit the nail on the head eh?

I realized later you wouldn't get that.

It means, you made a comment concering an element of reasonableness on my part, ie, criticism of the US, but you were able to resurrect me as the Golem, by accusing me of the most heinous of the heinous evils, support for Israel.:D

Notice too the lack of rhetorical middle ground he's carved out for me. I either have to agree with him (in which case I'm a Nazi) or I have to disagree with him (in which case I'm a Nazi). Next he's going to ask if I've stopped beating my wife....

The violin is merely a symbol for the excess wealth (etc.) that he brags about. He's as bad as some Neo-cons and their claim for self-worth because capitalism has given them so much. Nevermind the fact that they started the race 100 yards ahead of everyone else in social advantages not handed to others. That kind of advantage calls for humility, not arrogance.

I just heard from him for the first time on this thread, his claims of wealth.

I simply posted on a thread asking about "oldest instruments" the info about that particular violin.
From that moment on YW got obsessed by it because for her having such a violin - and the violin itself - represents "extreme wealth". (Hint : No it does not. It is just a violin.)

salaam.

how the bloody hell did we get from Git'mo to violins?
I've heard of off-topic, but this takes the bloody garibaldi!
:confused::eek:

Sorry for that. You'll see my violin pop up in posts of YW where ever she sees fit to do so.
Maybe I should post a pic for her to use, saves her time of typing the same posts again and again. People maybe get less confused because they pay less attention.

salaam.
