Girl raped at Man Utd Xmas party?

trashpony said:
I agree. But we are now in a situation where if a footballer (or any bloke really) is alone with a woman consensually and doesn't use massive amounts of force, he can pretty much rape her and get away with it. The whole thing around girls and footballers is utterly vile.

I was with you up until this point....
I doubt footballers are any worse or any better than any other group of lads of their age, or perhaps you just think girls and footballers are vile.

Also it's the tragic nature of the crime that it's extremely hard to prove, most often coming down to two peoples word, I fail how to see how this could be easily remedied without dropping some major principals of justice ie innocent until proven guilty, 'beyond reasonable doubt' and so on. I'd suggest anoymity for all parties would go some way towards helping.

I mean the obscene amount of money they get paid and the whole WAGs culture which has sprung up around them which is all about looks and designer gear and repellent conspicuous consumption. I find it nauseating.

not nice, yeah i'm in tears here, oh the poor little 50k a week footballers I feel duty bound to protect their honour. Believe me if a United player did rape this girl the cunt should be hung out to dry.

We do however know it couldn't have been Ronaldo, since he was in Zurich.
Ok, one last parting shot.

RvP was found NOT GUILTY...but THAT dont stop you does it...?

You utter utter Prick.

I actually think footballers and the wags take alot of stick for this for the simple reason that they're usually from humble backgrounds, there's a certain snobbery in the contempt for footballers living the lifestyle. Personally I couldn't give a shit and i'd doubt i'd be any different if I was a sucessful player. There is also the fact that a great many footballers do their up most to stay away from this crap, just look at Ryan Giggs, Scholes and Neville.

I find Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie just as nauseating. And mrs beckham and she's not from a 'humble' background either. And yeah, there are a lot of them that don't buy into it thank fuck. But I'd rather not think about the Neville bros if you don't mind :D

yes but Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton don't actually have a discernable talent, say what you want about footballers and their like for tack but most of them are atleast extremely talented at what they do.

I mean Wayne Rooney is actually going back to get an education, expanding his horizons (learning the guitar and getting into wine), he's been in the spotlight since he's been 17 and of course has made fuck ups like everyone else but don't you think it says something that he's bothering to go back and do his GCSE's?

- Sometimes footballers are so arrogant they end up as rapists

- Rape is massively underprosecuted in this country

- Very, very occasionally a woman claims to hve been raped who hasn't

We don't know which - if any - of the above is ttrue in this case. In fact we don't know anything at all about it save the name of the team and the hotel. As such, why bother saying anything?

This don't help

Only 5 per cent of reported rapes result in a conviction, a new report from HM Inspectorate of Constabulary and the Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate has revealed.

Also a disgusting level of men think women ask for it by dressing attractively.

Defo wasn't Ronaldo, he was at the world footballers thingy

is it true Messi is gay? I think it'd be something if the most skillful player in the world was gay.

Well, heavens. It doesn't happen on the streets of Dorking, I can tell you that much.

i dj'ed at Dorking FC a few times and i confirm as much :D

as for the thread in general well it makes me :(

if it's true then some poor girl is going to get dismissed as a gold digger and if it isn't true then some poor girl in the future is more likely to get labelled as such when it is true :(

Whatever. I think we should show some decorum and hold off until we know the facts.

At the moment we have a male that's been taking in for questioning and a woman in distress.

To me this (no matter where it happens) is a very live issue here and it goes beyond football.

someone on loan to another club?

nah apparently it's Evans he's not really had any 1st team starts, I think he came on for Pique in Rome last week.

I think Fergie won't be holding back on selling him on sometime soon now.

Yeah, they're reporting it - http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/article597453.ece the piece makes me sick.

yeah the shit about 'knock out girls and stunna's' is not exactly fucking appropriate in reporting a fucking rape.

"It was wall-to-wall babes. Some of the girls were absolute knock-outs."

or do they think they are putting the rape in some sort of context, like "looking at the babes y'can understand why it would happen etc etc".

a fucking gutter rag if i've ever read one.

Agree with the last part, but would like to add how remarkably pro to the player that piece was.

i feel a bit grubby about all the assumptions that are being made on this thread

string them up sans trial they earn too much seems to be a recurring theme

Perhaps waiting out to hear the actual story/charges etc would be common sense

... of course, they might want to interview Evans in the future, where as the girl..... :(

Brilliant. So if you're a premiership footballer, you can rape women willy nilly basically because no one will ever believe the little slag.

eh who said this?

well london calling and kained and able seem to have pretty much made up their minds that this is more than likely a fictional story to get cash. Unless I've totally misunderstood their posts.
Be careful of what you accuse other posters of because it can make you look like an ignorant and hysterical shit.

I have an opinion on the 'story' - that is, in my experience, the events as sold to and elaborated by the tabloid buying the 'story' - I don't get to detemine whether there are sufficient grounds to prosecute the case.

If you'd like to explain the logic of how Prem footballers can rape and get away with it because of my opinion, it should make interesting reading ?

A 19-year old has been arrested today. Seems to me the fact that Man Utd are refusing to comment on any of the story, suggests that it's one of their players that is being accused here. Wouldn't they be quick to deny any involvement if it wasn't one of the squad involved?

the overwhelming majority of men who rape get away with it, don't they?

I'm no expert but I'd imagine that's probably the case - though it appears to have nothing to do with the statement you quote?

because you asked how PF's can rape and get away with it. the issues are wider in this instance i know, but essentially i'd say it's because most men can. the laws in this country are set up to allow men to "get away with it". the only reason we're even talking about it is because it's a high profile person in the frame. it happens week in, week out, to all sorts of women up and down the country and the prosecution rate is disgustingly low.

Quote - 'explain the logic of how Prem footballers can rape and get away with it'.

Reply - 'the overwhelming majority of men who rape get away with it'

You don't see the link between these 2 statements?! Fuck me Einstein, step away from the keyboard before you spill your tea.....
