Gin and tonic

No. Just no.

This topic is wrong! G&T appreciation? Have you gone mad!

Gin tastes of soap and has the aroma of plastic.

I have the same relationship with tequila. I can put up with anything else (even whisky which I'm no great fan of) if it's the difference between drunkeness and sobriety but tequila? Foul stuff! Diesel oil is palatable by comparison.

You've not had a proper Margarita, then, have you?

Same principle as gin: own own rank, in the right company lush. Too lush by half.

When I was about 16 a bunch of us borrowed various booze from the local freemasons (long story). Knowing no better, we tried the gin neat - and broke in again to put it back, which is why I can say "borrowed".

Anything drink that needs another drink to go with it to make it palatable is dodgy if you ask me.

Drink wiskey you bunch of jessies :p

If I can't have a nice pint of real ale (or if I've already had too many) a nice G&T goes down just the ticket

Double gin, a sploosh of tonic (not swamped with a whole bottle) and a slice of lime. YUM!! :)

Why this sillyness of putting "tonic" into a perfect drink...?

So far one of the best renting expereinces of my life was when I had a live-in landlady who used to keep a ginourmous bottle of gin beside her bed. Every time I paid her in cash (and whenever I bumped into her in between) she would give me a huge glass of the stuff.

Top woman...!

My Dad had a friend who used to drink neat gin. Apparently the secret is to try and think of it as a liqueur. Bleurgh.

gin and bitter lemon work very well

as does gin and elderflower :)

can't drink any spirits neat, could drink bees under the table though :D

Oooh - we love a G&T in our house. It's only made me cry once, although I'm teased about it a lot. It's a drink to savour though, not to get drunk on. :)

Hendricks gin + tonic with a slice of cucumber instead of lemon is lush.

Seconded.

Hendricks only 1 in a 1000 gin drinkers like it!

Well that's what the label that comes with the bottle says. I like it with a squeeze of lime as well.
